Let's understand it by one simple example
Once there was an old man,he was in his seventees.He had severely damaged his left leg in a car accident at the age of fifteen,since then he had been obliged to use a crutch for support.
One day his only son gave him the good news that the treatment he needed was now available.He went under surgery and he could walk again according to the doctors.
But the irony is as soon as he woke up he asked for his crutch,no matter how hard everyone tried and even he himself couldn't walk without it.
This is love - senseless, pointless and pure.
We see how this man could maybe now physically walk but psychologically he couldn't without his crutch.
