The coming weekend Jeno and Karina were supposed to visit an animal shelter for the assignment but Karina was yet to find a place. After spending hours scrolling on Google, she finally decides to seek Ningning's help.
She came with Winter and to their surprise, their other foreigner friend was there already, in Ningning's club room.
"Oh! Our little busy friend, we finally get to see you." They took turns to hug.
"Ning help me!" Karina cried in cutesy tone.
"I got you!" Ningning winked at her reassuringly after Karina explained what she needed help with.
"It's been a while since we all hung out. Should we plan something?" Winter suggested.
Giselle, like all Karina's friends was visually attractive. She was often bubbly and spoke in a mash up of three different languages : English, Korean and Japanese, which made her have her own unique talking tone. She was half Japanese, half Korean but attended an international school where she picked up the american accent. It was a rather odd sight to see Giselle quiet like that. All she had said was the greetings they had exchanged.
"Gi, you are awfully quiet." Karina commented as she looked concernedly at Giselle. "Did something happen?"
"I really wasn't going to bring this up," Giselle began as she stared at her hand. "But are you really playing with Jeno?"
Of all the things Karina had expected to hear from Giselle, this was definitely not on the list. Another thing that surprised her was Giselle never interfered in her love life - apart from giving advice whenever Karina asked for it. In fact she would encourage Karina to break the hearts of guys like it were some sort of a game.
"That's... I have a reason for it."
"The reason being him not liking you? Come on Karina, grow up!" Giselle's voice was loud enough to convey the anger in it.
"Don't you already have enough men drooling over you to feed your ego?" Giselle was now standing in front of Karina. Winter tried to intervene only to be pushed to the side by Karina herself. "Why does it have to be Jeno? Can't you just leave him out of your silly little game?"
"Gi, what are you saying? This isn't like you." Karina was unable to fathom the sudden change in her friend's attitude.
Her words hurt, of all people that could judge Karina, it had to be a friend she cherished alot. Despite being stinged by her words, she tried to understand where she was coming from. Was she close with Jeno? Or was she interested in Jeno? It had to be one of the two.
The one-sided altercation between the two ended with Giselle warning Karina to stop what she was trying to do before she slammed the door to the club room and storming off to who knew where.
"I'm sorry, I told her about it." Ningning apologised.
"No, you don't need to apologise." Karina found herself hugging Ningning for solace. "If you didn't tell her, I would have told her anyways."
"Do you know why she's acting like that though? Is she into Jeno or something?" Winter asked Ningning.
"Well, yall know how secretive she can be with her relationships." Ningning sighed failing to decipher the reason behind Giselle's behaviour. Nevertheless, they all seemed to have the same presumption.
"I heard some rumors about her being with Mark Lee." Ningning added thoughtfully.
"Who's Mark Lee?" Karina pulled from the hug to ask Ningning.
"I don't know him personally either but he's this boy who speaks fluent English. He doesn't go to our uni though."
"Did you ask Gi about him?" Winter, not wanting to believe rumors, asked.
