Whether it was a sugar rush from the ice cream they were eating or excitement for their shared interest in music, Winter found herself talking more than usual. Surprisingly, Jaemin was being the quiet one.
"Am I talking too much?" Winter suddenly asked when she sensed his intense stare. He had a soft smile and a constant nod as she showed him her playlist and artists she liked.
Jaemin let out a breathy single laugh at her question. "You have ice cream here." He touched his own cheek to show.
"Here?" She asked.
"A little to the right."
Not realizing that her hand was also stained, she ended up spreading it across her cheek. With that, Jaemin cackled.
"Stop laughing, Na Jaemin. I swear!" Her pout, her fist and angry round eyes, were scaring no one. If anything, it was endearing and Na Jaemin's newfound weakness.
"Why are you so clumsy?" He remarked between his laugh as he pulled out a tissue from the box placed between them.
He leaned in and began wiping her face. His eyes were fixated on the stained spot whereas her eyelids were busy batting from one of his features to another. The man was crafted beautifully and from a close look, one realized how flawless his skin looked. Winter gulped in envy at his natural long lashes.
"I love listening to you talk." He looked up abruptly, locking gazes with her, as he spoke in a sultry whispered voice.
Poor Winter's breath hitched. Her eyes grew even wider and her pale skin flashed red. She moved back quickly evading his gaze. Whatever he was doing was greatly messing with the chemicals in her head, leaving her blank with no way to retaliate.
She quickly cupped her cheeks, hoping he didn't get ideas. Ideas that might probably be true with the way she was reacting.
"Uhm..." Winter began. "Is everything going well with you and Ryujin?" Denial mode was constantly switched on for Winter but only a little while prior, it was momentarily off and she almost let herself fall. Fall for Na Jaemin, the playboy who probably dated a new girl every other weekend. Truth was, she had considered it. Not dating him but what it would be like to be heartbroken by him. It felt bitter even though she claimed that she would never date someone like him.
"Why are you suddenly asking about her?" Jaemin had a slight frown. It felt like she was yet again pushing him away. It wasn't even pushing away but rather clear rejection at his persuasion attempts. His expression slowly morphed into an exasperated one.
She really isn't interested in me in the slightest. Is she still into Jeno?
"Just asking. Can't I?" Winter's voice was slightly high pitched, all in an effort to bring back their bickering energy. Na Jaemin was clearly not in the mood for that as he simply shrugged.
"It's going well... I guess." He turned to play with the ice cream infront him, all appetite suddenly lost.
Realizing her attempts were not working, Winter nodded and proceeded to eat her ice cream.
"By the way, you do realize that Jeno isn't interested in you at all right? Like he doesn't see you like that..." Jaemin wasn't asking but rather rudely informing her despite framing it like a question. Even he didn't know what he was hoping for by saying that.
"Why do you have to phrase it like that? You are making it sound like I'm utterly unattractive and no man would be interested in me. Tsk." For one, Winter didn't care if Jeno liked her or not, but having to hear it from Jaemin irked her in an inexplicable way.
