Chapter 23

No-One's POV

Today, Y/n's 18. She didn't have anything special planned, other than football training later soon, at her new local grassroots club. She's still playing, but she's nowhere near as happy playing football as she was when playing under the Cardiff City academy.

Speaking of CC, she has a cup game against them coming up, next week, which she was absolutely dreading more than anything. Playing against almost all of her old teammates, her old coaches and staff, she was dreading seeing them, nevermind playing against them.

Y/N's POV

"Happy Birthday Y/n" Katie said as we spoke on FaceTime, "Thanks, Katie, you okay?"

"Yeah i'm good, you? You got anything planned tonight then? Big 18 and all that" Katie said, I chuckled lightly, "Nope, got training in like an hour, that's about it" I replied honestly.

"Awh, thought you would be out on the lash or something, getting wrecked" Katie said with a light laugh.

"Nah, haven't got the bother for that, plus i'm skint" I replied laughing, it's true though. I don't have a job, i've got 62p to my name to be exact.

"Oh. Well. I've sent you something that should be arriving later tonight" Katie said with a smirk.

"Katie- I told you no gifts" I said sternly, instantly I knew what she was going to say back.

"Yeah and I told you no gifts for my birthday last month, but did you listen? No!" Katie replied sarcastically, I rolled my eyes.

"But-"

"No buts Y/n, it'll be at your doorstep later, FaceTime me when you get it" Katie then said.

"Fine. Thank you" I replied, with a smile, I couldn't help but smile, she's too good.

"You don't even know what it is yet" Katie said laughing, "Still, thank you, Katie. It could be a pile of dog shite, i'd still be grateful" I joked, Katie shook her head, "i'll keep that in mind" she said laughing even more.

"Don't you dare" I said, joining in with the laughter.

"I wouldn't" She said with a smug smirk.

"I've got to get ready, i'll call you later Katie" I said with a sigh, realising I haven't long before I need to leave for training.

"Yeah, okay, i'll speak to you later, byeee"

"bye Katie"

I sighed as the call ended. That was probably the one of the best parts of today, I mean, I went out for a nice breakfast with my Grandma, and spent time with her which is always nice, but other than that, it's been a normal day to me.

Eventually, It was time for me to leave, I grabbed my phone, keys and boot bag before heading out the door and to the car to begin the short-ish journey to training.

I arrived at training, and I was greeted with many birthday wishes before we began training, which was nothing different same as usual, and eventually finishing the game with a short game.

Once training finished, the girls gave me a bunch of balloons, 18 ones and a big birthday cake with an embarrassing photo of me plastered on front of it. I couldn't help but burst out laughing as I stared at the god-awful photo on the cake.

"Thanks girls, really thank you" I said, chuckling as I held the cake, looking down at it.

Eventually, we all left the training session and headed towards our cars, "You ready for the cup game next week?" one of the girls, Lucy asked as we walked to our cars.
