"Hello, Y/n. i'm Casey, Casey Stoney, Head coach of Manchester United Women. I had a few of my assistants that watched you play recently, and they came back to me very impressed with you as a player, so I'd thought i'd give you a call, get to know you a bit better first"
My eyes widen, Casey Stoney, Casey fucking Stoney is talking to me. Oh my god.
"Oh- wow. Hi, I- Yeah, I spoke to a few of them the other day and some scouts from other clubs, they were all very kind. I recently joined a local grassroots club after a season with the Cardiff City Academy" I said, still shaken up by the call i'm currently on.
"Yes, they did mention that, may I ask what happened during your time at City? and towards the end?" Casey asked curiously, I took in a deep breath before I spoke.
"Yeah, well, I had an amazing season with them, we played really well and I got on with most of the girls and the staff, towards the end of my time there, I was being subbed a lot more then eventually it turned to not being picked in the starting eleven, I'm not sure why, as I did not have any problems or head anything from the coaches about it, just as time went on closer to the end of the season, they were barely playing me, and then I got dropped at the end of the season, with no real answer as to why other than that there's a lot of competition for spots in academies" I said sadly and honestly.
"Oh, okay. That does seem a little strange doesn't it? Did you have any injuries? any disagreement's? with either players or staff? Or is there no answer to why this happened?" Casey asked.
"No- no, absolutely nothing. I'm totally clueless about it all, sorry"
"No need to apologise, Y/n. Would it be okay with you if I contacted the club, to ask about it a little more, I have a lot of interest in you as a player, i'd like to see their side of it, then if this is okay too, i'd like to set up a meeting with you, to come here to Manchester to discuss you, and your potential professional career in football" Casey says, my eyes widen.
"Yea-yeah, sure absolutely, that's more than okay" I say, stumbling over my words.
"Great, listen, i'll be in contact soon. It's been good to chat to you, Y/n"
"Likewise, Casey, thank you"
"Take care, Bye"
"Bye" I said before the three beeps signalling the call had ended beeped. I sat in my bed, jaw still dropped slightly from the phone call i've just received.
"Oh my fucking god" I muttered under breath, my hands are literally shaking as I hold my phone, trying to call Katie back.
Eventually I manage to call her, but she doesn't answer, I try a second time and she picks up.
"Heya? What's up then?" Katie asked with a cheeky grin.
"I- I had a phone call, from Casey Fucking Stoney, Katie. Casey Stoney just rang me and said she's potentially
interested in me- She said she's got to sort some stuff out, but she's gonna set up a meeting for us" I said, trembling as I tell Katie what I'd just been told.
"Wha- what? That's, wow- I-
That's amazing, Y/n, I told you, I told you, you'd get a call from someone, they all saw just how fucking amazing you are" Katie said with a big grin.
"Thank, thank you. I- I'm literally shaking. I- I'm lost for words, like- I could end up getting a pro contract, I don't wanna get my hopes up, like I said earlier, but- It's possible now, now i've had a call" I said, still trying to process everything.
"Babe, I told you, you are more than good enough to become professional. You've just got to be patient, and you have been. This is an amazing opportunity, baby, I'm so proud of you" Katie said sweetly, smiling at me, "Thank you, I love you, so much"
"I love you too, Y/n. I've got training in soon, i'll give to a ring later on, yeah?" Katie said sadly, I nodded, "Yeah, okay, bye, love"
"Bye, babe" Katie said sweetly before the line went dead.
Now it is just a waiting game to see if anything comes through.
