Chapter 36

Katie's POV

This WSL season is finished, Y/n's season is done with, which now means, we've finally got this bit of time off together, which we've been dying to have. But that's just a part of our profession, rarely any time off.

We've spent these first two weeks off in London, going out, exploring different places and just enjoying getting to spend time together.

Oh also, meeting up with some of the girls, who now know we're together.

They were very surprised to say the least, especially Leah and Alex, that was an eventful night out when we turned up together.

Telling them the story of how we met and how we knew eachother, that was even more eventful. Though, now in retrospect, it's a lot more lighthearted and funnier to tell.

But now, we're almost in Manchester, to spend some time down here and just pretty much planning to do what we did in London, spending all of our free time together.

"What you fancying for food then?" Y/n spoke up, briefly looking at me before focusing back on the road.

"I dunno, depends what's around Manchester, you know it more than me, babe" I said, chuckling.

"Look on google or somet, see what's in the area, i've hardly been out to places in Manchester to be honest" Y/n said, I nodded before opening my phone and searched for places to go to.

"There's quite a few restaurants, not even going to try and pronounce the names though" I said laughing. I heard Y/n chuckle, "See what they have, and pick one, I don't mind where" she then said.

I scrolled through the lists of restaurants and places in Manchester, and I eventually found one that had a nice sounding menu and good reviews, "I've found one, shall I put it on the sat-nav?" I spoke up, my girlfriend nodded, "Yeah, gowan then"

I grabbed her phone, unlocking it before typing in the postcode of the place, and Y/n glanced at the name of the restaurant on her phone, "Sounds fancy" she said, laughing, "aye, I know" I replied before putting her phone back down as she continued with the journey, her hand resting on my thigh, as I held it with mine on top of hers.

Y/n's POV

After the usual chaotic amount of traffic, we finally made it through the hectic parts of Manchester, and eventually, found the restaurant successfully.

I found a nearby car park, and parked there before myself and Katie got out, her hand immediately finding mine as we walked out the car park, down the street and into the doors of the restaurant.

A woman stood at the front greeted us, "Table for two?" She questioned and I nodded, she signalled for us to follow, and we did, before being taken to a small, cosy looking area in the corner of the restaurant.

Myself and Katie sat down, and both of us immediately picked up the menu, looking through and seeing what was available.

Eventually, both of us settled on what we were going to have, and shortly after the same woman from earlier came back and she took our orders, as well as our menu's as she walked off.

Both myself and Katie looked at eachother for a short time, before I rested my hands out on the table, holding them out. Katie's hands found mine and I squeezed them gently.

"I'm so glad we've got this time off" I admitted, smiling at my girlfriend, "You and me both. It's a rare occasion for us considering our jobs" Katie said and I nodded, "Yeah. International break doesn't help with it either. As much as I love playing for country, it's exhausting" I said and Katie nodded in agreement.
