Y/n's POV
"Have you heard anything back yet?" Katie asked me as we spoke on FaceTime, I shook my head, mumbling "No" in response.
I've not had any good news from any club yet, Chelsea came back and said they unfortunately couldn't take any new players, as they had all their spaces full, United emailed saying they are pending a decision, and i've
heard absolutely nothing from Arsenal."It'll come, Y/n. They were absolutely stunned by you the other week. You'll definitely get a call or something from them. You're too good to be playing at the level you're at right now"
"Thanks, Katie. I just- I just don't wanna get me hopes up n' all, i'm trying to stay calm and realistic, it's unlikely i'm going to get any offers from big clubs like them lot" I said honestly.
"Y/n- They literally told you, they were heavily impressed and interested in you, you need to stay positive" Katie argued with me.
"Katie- There's a difference between being positive and realistic, i'm choosing the second one, because they're clubs like Arsenal, United, n all. Massive, massive clubs, big, renowned accademys, I very much doubt they want someone who's been dropped back to a grass roots team, I'm at the age now where i'd be signed professionally, not accademy level, It's very unlikely" I said, letting out a heavy sigh as I slowly started to think about what i'm saying, because it's true.
"I find it very unlikely that a 18 year old is going to get scouted, scouting happens from a young age, typically, you'd get scouted at a young age and stay with them for a while up until this age or just old and then potentially go pro" I then added on and Katie shook her head at me.
"Y/n, hello, over here. I was signed professionally at 19, I wasn't in an accademy, I was playing for me local that i've played with for years. It is more than possible to happen. You've just got to have some faith, babe" Katie said to me softly, reminding me of her being signed for Arsenal.
"God- I, I can remember when you'd told me that christmas that Arsenal signed you. You were so scared, and now look at you" I say smiling, remembering that christmas, in Ireland.
"Ye- yeah, it- that was mad, I still find myself feeling like i'm, like i've got- like, some sort of imposter syndrome, sometimes it catches me off guard, that I actually play for Arsenal, professionally" Katie said with a small chuckle.
"You deserve it though. Every, single bit of it" I said with a huge smile, "Thank you, my love" Katie replied softly.
"I could always chase up the one from Arsenal, see if they have a decision, help you calm yourself a bit more" Katie then suggested, I shook my head, "No- no, no, that'll make me look desperate, Katie. I just need to be patient" I said and Katie nodded.
"Okay, well, leave it for now. If it's still nothing by, let's say after christmas, i'll chase it up" Katie then said.
"Katie- I just said-"
"I wanna know just as much as you. Who knows, we could end up playing together" Katie said with her usual cheeky grin.
"Pleaseeee, Y/n. If you don't hear anything soon, let me chase it up"
"Pleaseee, pretty please, baby. Please, pretty, pretty, pretty please with a massive cherry on top"
"No- I, Katie- Uh, ugh, fine" I said giving in as she looked at me intensely, before smiling as I caved in from her pleading. I couldn't help but laugh at her pleading and little happy expression when I said fine to it.
Then all of a sudden, another call came through, private number, "Katie- I've got to go, a private number is ringing me" I said quickly, "Yeah, yeah go- call us back after"
"Yeah, I will, love you"
"Love you too" Katie replied before our call ended and I accepted the private number.
"Hello?" I said nervously,
"Hello, is that Y/n L/n?" A woman spoke up confidently.
"Hi, uh, yes, speaking" I said, still full of nerves.
"Hello, Y/n. i'm-"
