Quick A/N, I know at this point in time, Casey Stoney hadn't actually retired yet, but i've retired her early for the sake of the story.
Anyway, enjoy! x
February.
No-One's POV
Y/n had the past week to move all of her belongings down to the flat that she has been accommodated by the club, sharing with her new teammate, but a familiar face, Ella Toone. Who she met on an England camp a while ago.
Which was a little more comforting, having a familiar face and someone she knew a bit to help her settle down in her new life in Manchester.
She had all of her new training kits sent to the flat, with the number 9 engraved on the right side of the shirts, shorts and joggers.
Y/n was ecstatic to find out that she was maintaining that number 9. As she always considered it, her lucky number.
She wore it on and off the pitch, after she had it tattooed on her, to always keep her lucky number, her lucky charm and her grandad close to her.
It was the number her grandad wanted her to wear when she was a kid, out of all the numbers available to pick, he was persistent that Y/n pick number 9.
And with that, she's never worn another since. It had a even more significant meaning to her after he passed, as he always called Y/n, "My number 9".
Her new playing license was also sorted, not having to go through the process that she had to go through back at City, alongside her contract was officially signed and announced on the Manchester United's social media platforms.
Even though United's most senior women's team are still only classed as academy, they signed a contract, as they were being paid.
But they are very close to gaining the opportunity to move up to the championship league, one league below the WSL.
They just have to keep going as they are now in order for that promotion. to be constantly winning and dominating every game that they play.
They are still getting paid for it though. Nothing spectacular, it's like a standard paying normal job, but with the professional football schedule and expectations, especially with it being such a big and worldwide known club, they have a reputation and standards to keep sky high.
Y/n's first few nights were sleepless though. She was absolutely horrendous with home sickness, she always had been homesick, even if it was just staying at a friends house, Y/n struggled terribly with it.
So this was something she expected to happen, and tried to prepare herself as best as she could, but it was still a first few restless nights in her new bedroom in Manchester.
However, today was the day, her first official day as a Manchester United player. Her first training session. Where she was set to meet all of the girls as well as the staff and get underway with the remainder of the academy league.
Y/N's POV
"You're gonna be fine, Y/n, I promise" Ella said to me as she drove us from our flat to the United training grounds.
"Still doesn't stop me shitting myself. I feel like a new character entering a show on the sixth series. Where everyone knows eachother and they're all like, "who the fuck's this new one" I literally know you, that's it" I replied, my hands shaking slightly as I had them placed in my lap.
Ella laughed at my remark, "It'll be fine. I promise you. You'll get on with everyone, just chill out" Ella repeated to me, after saying it about a thousand times already today.
