Queen Maud Land, Antarctica

Operation: Cinder was in full swing. The intel subs had discovered a siren research facility in Antarctica. Our goal was to take everything and then floor it. Only a handful of ships could be dispatched at a time for this one thanks to how spread out we already were.

The facility was disguised as an offshore oil rig. Not the most glorious thing but it'd be easy to turn to ash off a fuel rupture. I, Forge, Trathen, and 2 missile destroyers were deployed. Some of those Burke class I figured.

"Levi, you able to hear me?" Forge's voice played through my radio. She'd been deployed with a new hull so this was probably not the greatest idea for her to be coming.

"Yeah, I hear you good."

"Good. We're coming up on the rig. Watch your back, they may have some special things waiting."

"Don't worry, I got Trathen with me. Whatever gets in the way is going to curl up and die."

"Oi, fuck off." Trathen's annoyed voice played through alongside the giggles of Forge. She was still easy to annoy randomly.

"Hehe. Try and keep your anger for the enemy alright?"

"Always do." I smirked, stepping out my bridge to the cold ocean air. The oil rig was a few miles out now. Its silhouette painted part of the sky dark against the muggy gray it was. A few other outlines were visible too. Easily recognizable as Siren mass production models. Their lethality had gone up only slightly throughout the ages. Though a shiver ran down my spine when I took a closer look.

Instead of the usual black or discernable gun placements, they were white with what looked like box launchers. One was facing back so I could see a SAM on the rear and numerous. The hull's size cap compared to others made it seem like a Rook even if it didn't look right.

"Heads up, these things don't look right."

"How so?"

"They're white and have missiles."

"Huh...sending up scouts." A pair of Hornets equipped with AIM-9s and a few unguided bombs took off Forge's deck. They well on ahead within seconds of launch. Trathen groaned as they roared past her ship.

"Damn, those things are loud as hell."

"Yeah. You never get used to it."

"These ships...I've never seen any like these. They're brand new."

"Well, fuck. Guess our work is cut out for us now."

"Hold on. I'm going t-" Both the Hornets took direct laser impacts from somewhere in the water, blowing them to bits. "Nevermind. Someone doesn't like me looking around."

"Seems so. Try and run a spot?"

"Trathen, they tracked and shot down a jet with perfect accuracy at high speeds. Sending any other jets is going to be worthless if whatever it is doesn't bug off."

"Fair enough. Levi?"

"I'll handle it." My engines were pushed close to their limits to get me closer faster. The assault would fall apart without carrier cover. It'd fall apart anyways if that thing wasn't handled. Trathen was quickly to break formation and follow while Forge hung back with the two Burkes.

A long, drawn out horn echoed across the water. It bellowed from underneath the waves like an ancient beast awakening. Seconds later, the mystery ships opened fire. The first few rounds fell around me before the next landed on the front deck and sunk in. An unnaturally large explosion rocked my ship. I was nearly sent falling off into the water. "Great, fresh hole in the deck."
