Flashback...
You hated these things.
Parties just weren't for you. Getting all dressed up to be surrounded by a bunch of strangers or people you hated either way you loathed it.
" You look like you feel so out of place."
"Really? Well thanks for pointing that out I would have never been able to guess that I looked exactly how I felt (I replied sarcastically without making eye contact) the world makes sense to me again, having a stranger figure me out."
Finally making eye contact with my examiner.
"Anthony." He extends his hands to me.
I place my hand in his and everything begins to unfold in front of me. Than and there I knew he would be the end of me.
"Quinn." I whisper keeping my eyes fixated on his grayish/ bluish eyes.
"I have to go (I begin to point awkwardly behind me) my friend over there will start humping anything and yea it will get ugly before he's finished."
(Zachary interrupts)
"Bitch I'm Mexican you know how I get when I drink Patron." Zachary begins to yell. " I was going through a bad break up and it was free drinks!"
"Who the hell were you with before me?" Lawrence says sounding disgusted.
"Oh don't get him started. This was actually like right before you..." I say.
"He was not that bad..." Zachary defends
"He was an asshole. He talked so much shit about everything."
"Especially Quinn for some reason?" He added quietly.
We stayed quiet for a while.
" I heard he got married.." I finally say.
"Yea he's doing good." Zachary adds in.
Everyone is eyeing us and finally I take the hint. That's not the story they want to hear.
(Back to flashback)
I had finally calmed Zachary down from crying after a Vicente Fernandez song came on. On my way to retrieve him a glass of water I ran into my new I guess you could call him friend.
"Work of a caregiver never ends huh?"
" I guess you could say that." I avoid eye contact.
"So what school do you to go to?" He says trying to fill this awkward silence.
"Southwest High School, and you?" I reply.
"Graduated, this is actually my graduation party. Somerset High School, what brings you out here anyways? A little outside your jurisdiction."
"Jurisdiction? What am I a cop." I said sarcastically "Well if you must know, my friend over there (I pointed to a really drunk Zachary) he is friends with a girl who lives across the street and I was just kind of dragged from there."
We began talking and I finally felt like I was having fun. He was funny and he tried to hard and I found it adorable.
"Oh I love this song." I'll Just Hold On By Blake Shelton began to play.
