I don't want to lose my best friend

Dani P.O.V

The next day I woke up at around 7am. Leah was still asleep; I didn’t want to wake her by getting up so I just lay there watching her. Around 5 minutes later Leah said “are you watching me sleep?”

Her eyes were still closed. I said “yeah sorry. Old habits”

She opened her eyes and laughed “It’s ok. How you feeling this morning?”

“I’m ok. Thanks for letting me stay last night. I think I really did need someone, when I say someone, I mean you” I said

“I know. You don’t need to thank me though” Leah said

The doorbell rang. Leah said “awww I forgot. Beth and Viv are taking me to training”

She got out of bed and went to answer the door.

Leah’s P.O.V

I opened the door, Beth and Viv were standing there. Beth said “you’re not ready yet?”

I said “I just woke up. I forgot to set an alarm”

“It’s fine we will wait” Viv said

We all walked into the living room.

“How’s Dani? I saw her car outside” Beth said

I said “I didn’t think it was a good idea her going home to an empty house last night”

Beth said “I’m not questioning why she’s here. I was just worried about her”

Viv said “yeah we both are. Beth didn’t sleep much last night”

Dani appeared and said “maybe Beth could ask me herself”

I said “I’m going to get dressed. I won’t be long”

Dani’s P.O.V

Leah left the room. I sat on the chair, while Beth and Viv were sat on the sofa.

Beth smiled and said “how are you?”

“I’m actually ok. My dad is doing as well as can be expected. It’s just going to be a long recovery and probably meds for the rest of his life” I said

“I’m glad he is doing ok” Beth said

Viv’s phone started to ring, she said “sorry I have to answer this” she left the room.

Beth looked at Viv till she was out of the room. Then she looked back at me and said “I’m sorry. I should have said it sooner. I should have told you what happened. I didn’t want to hurt you”

“I know your sorry. I just needed to hear it. I hate that we aren’t friends anymore. I don’t want to lose my best friend” I said

She said “I’m still here Dan. I know we will find it hard to get back to where we were but I know we will. I don’t want to lose you either”

I got up and walked over to her. I put my hand out for her to take which she did. I pulled her up and hugged her. I said “I missed you”

She said “I missed you too”

We pulled away. Viv and Leah walked back into the living room. I laughed, they all looked confused. Then Leah said “what are you laughing at?”

I said “was it you that called Viv?”

She smiled and said “guilty. I just think you to needed a bit of space to sort things out”

Beth said “thank you” and smiled at Leah.

I smiled to.

Viv said “are you coming in today?”

I said “yeah, I’m just going to go home and change. I will be 10 minutes behind you”

Leah said “Dan”

I walked over to her took her hands and said “I'll be ok Le, I won't be long. I promise” I gave her a kiss on the cheek and I left.
