I love you

Leah’s P.O.V

After I invited Dani around to mine tonight. I went to go and find Beth and Viv. I found them in the changing room. I was panicking a bit and I said “Beth, Viv there you are. I need a favour”

Beth said “Leah calm down, what is up with you?”

“I just saw Dani and I invited her to a movie night tonight” I said

Beth said “ok, so why are you like this?”

“I told her that you two were already coming. Tell me that you are free please. I need you there” I said

Viv said “Leah we will be there, why are you so nervous? It’s just Dani who you have known for a long time”

I said “I don’t know”

Beth said “what time do you want us there?”

I said “about 6”

Viv said “we will be there. We have to get to the gym though”

I said “yeah. So do I. Thank you”

Beth said “what are friends for”

I quickly sent a text to Dani.

Leah- Beth and Viv are coming for 6 tonight so anytime around then x

After that I put my phone away to get on with my session in the gym.

I finished my session and went home. I wanted to tidy the house before Dani, Beth and Viv got to mine. They all know that I am an untidy person but for some reason I wanted the place to look nice. I know that of course I was trying to impress Dani. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the letter that Dani wrote to me and I regret telling her that I could only be friends at the moment. How do I tell her that I want more now.

Anyway, I tidy the house and I still had plenty of time so I put a load of laundry on. I go and sit on the sofa and open TikTok. I knew that that would distract me for a bit and it did because the next thing I know the doorbell rings. I look up its 5.45pm. Someone is early. I go and open the door and Dani is standing outside. I said “Hey”

She said “Hey”

I smiled and said “come in”

We both walked into the living room and sat down on either end of the sofa. Dani turned her body towards me and said “sorry I’m early. Couldn’t wait any longer, I wanted to see you”

I smiled at her and said “It’s ok. It’s good to see you”

“It’s good to see you too” Dani said

“Where you staying now?” I asked

“I’m actually only 5 minutes from here. I’m literally a road across from Jordan’s apartment” Dani said

“How is it living on your own?” I asked

“It’s pretty weird. It’s the first time I have ever lived by myself. It’s quiet, sometimes that’s nice but then sometimes it isn’t. I guess you know what I’m talking about” Dani said

“Yeah, I know what you mean. How have you been spending your time since being back?” I asked

“I’ve seen Beth and Viv a few times but other than that nothing really. Just trying to get my house sorted out so it looks liveable” Dani said

Just then the doorbell went. I got up to get the door. It was Beth and Viv as expected. Beth said “Hi Leah, we thought we would get here early to calm your nerves before Dani gets here”

“shhhh Beth. Dani is already here” I said.

We all went into the living room. Beth sat on the end of the sofa where I was sitting before and Viv sat on the chair. What is she trying to do, as if my nerves aren’t already on edge now, I have to sit next to Dani.

Instead of sitting down I said “does anyone want a drink?”

“What are our choices?” Beth asked

I said “Beer, white wine, Pepsi max, tea and water”

Viv said “I’ll just have a Pepsi max please”

Dani said “I’ll have a beer please”

Beth said “I’ll come and help you. You can’t carry 4 drinks in”

Beth and I went to get the drinks, Beth chose a beer and so did I. We walked back into the living room. Beth gave Viv her drink and then sat back on the end of the sofa. I gave Dani her drink. She said “Thanks Le” I smiled at her and sat down in the middle of Beth and Dani.

Beth said “what are we watching?”

Leah said “well what do you guys want to watch?”

Beth said “how about 50 first dates”

Viv said “I’ve never seen it”

Myself and Dani looked at her in shock.

Dani said “we have to watch it then. Viv needs to see this”

I said “yeah. Otherwise, Dani will never forgive you. It’s one of her favourite movies”

Viv said “really”

Dani said “Yep. Leah is right but not just one of my favourites is it, Leah. How many times have we watched it”

I said “too many probably but one more won’t hurt”

I turned the tv on and put the movie on. I could see that Viv was engrossed and so was Beth. I kept on glancing at Dani, I caught her looking at me a couple of times as well. Every time our eyes caught each other we smiled. I was definitely still in love with this girl from the butterflies that I could feel. I actually think I am falling in love with her all over again.

By the time the movie ended both Beth and Viv were yawning. Beth said “I think that we are going to go. I’m really tired and we have to be up early”

Viv said “Dani, Leah. I’m not sure how you have watched that so many times. It was good but it wasn’t that good”

Both me and Dani looked offended when she said that. I said “it’s a good job you’re leaving or I might have to kick you out”

Dani said “yeah, I agree with Leah on that. I will help in the kicking” she started laughing which made us all laugh.

Beth said “come on babe before they actually do”

Viv said “ok, I’m coming. Dani, do you want a lift? I didn’t see your car outside”

Dani said “I’m good thanks. I walked. I’m not too far away from here”

Beth and Viv both said “bye”

After they both left it was silent for a couple of minutes. Then Dani looked at me and said “I meant what I said you know Le”

I said “’what?”

She said “I will wait if I need to and I will never give up on us”

I wanted to tell her that there was no need to wait anymore but something is still holding me back. Instead, I said “I just need some time Dani”

She said “I’ll give you all the time that you need. But I’m still going to be around”

“I don’t doubt that” I said

“I better get going then” Dani said

We both got up and I walked her to the door. She opened it, then turned to me and said “bye Le. I’ll see you soon”

I pulled her in for a hug. During the embrace I said “I love you”

Dani pulled away, smiled and said “I love you too”

She walked away in the direction of her house. I just watched her walk away for a minute, then I closed the door and leaned back onto the door. I closed my eyes and smiled. I need to work out what is holding me back. Dani is my person and I want to be with her so much.
