You are my one

Dani’s P.O.V

It’s the first weekend of September. Not long now till the new wsl season starts.

The day after the BBQ, Leah asked me to go away with her for the weekend. Of course, I said yes.

We took just over a 2-hour drive down to Brighton. Leah had arranged it. The first day we walked around and did some shopping. On the night we went out to eat at a nice restaurant.

We are just about to go on the British Airways i360. I have never been on it before mainly because I’m scared of heights but Leah had planned it so I was happy to do it for her. Just before we got into the glass pod Leah turned to me and said “are you sure you ok doing this?”

I said “I’m sure Le, I want to”

“You’re not scared, are you?” Leah asked

“I am but sometimes you have to face your fears and you’re with me so I’m sure that I will be ok” I answered.

It wasn’t very busy and no one really seemed to be paying any attention to us so she took my hand and said “I will keep you safe”

I smiled and said “I know you will”

We went around the pod a bit and found a place that we wanted to stand. After everyone was in. We were off. We were going up. I took a deep breath in; Leah squeezed my hand and that eased my nerves. I let out the breath and then I was ok. We glided up to 138 meters high and I looked around at the scenery. It was amazing. We could see the whole of Brighton and over the channel to the isle of Wight. I have seen some amazing things in my life but I think this tops them all.

I turned to Leah and said “thank you”

“Nothing to thank me for Dan. I needed to do this whole weekend for you, I wanted to show you how much I love you. You are my one, I don’t know why I have been fighting it but I’m not going to anymore. I need you, Dani. Please be my girlfriend again?” Leah said

I could feel my eyes water but they were happy tears. I said “of course. You are my one to. I love you Leah” I pulled her in for a hug and said “I want to kiss you so much right now”

She said “so do it. I’m not stopping you. Nobody is watching anyway”

We both pulled away and I kissed her. She kissed me back. It was short but sweet.

The rest of the day we spent pretty much attached to each other. We didn’t want to let one and another go. I was happy. Happier than I have been in a long time.

The day we got back from our weekend. Was the day of Leah’s Mum’s and Dad’s anniversary.

We had just got back to Leah’s, I was sat on the sofa. Leah had gone to put her stuff away. She came back into the room and dropped down next to me. She turned to look at me and said “what are you smiling for?”

I said “you” but that was all I had to say.

She said “my mum and Dad are having a meal tonight. They told me to bring a plus one. Will you come with me?”

I said “of course I will. When is it?”

Leah said “in a couple of hours”

“Ok. I will go home, shower and get changed” I said

“I will pick you up at 5.30” she said

I leaned over and kissed her. I said “I will see you soon”

Leah was right on time. She drove us to the restaurant that the meal was at. We got out the car she said to me just wait outside of the door of the function room. I haven’t told them that you are coming. Something tells me that they are going to love this surprise”

I smiled at her and said “ok”

Leah’s P.O.V   

I walked into the room Mum and Dad got up and came over to me. I hugged my mum and then my dad. My mum said “Hi bubs, how are you?”

“I am actually really good mum thank you. Happy anniversary both of you” I said

They both smiled and my dad said “thanks sweetheart”

Then my mum said “’I was hoping that you would bring someone”

I smiled at her and said “was you? Like who?”

She said “whoever the someone is that is putting that smile on your face”

“As a matter of fact, I did bring someone. My girlfriend actually” I said. My mum smiled at that and I went to get Dani. I opened the door and said “you can come in now”

Dani walked in and I could see that my mum and my dad actually had the biggest smiles on their faces. Dani said “happy anniversary. Thanks for letting me come”

My dad said “thank you and I’m glad you’re here for Leah” he hugged Dani

She said “always”

My mum pulled Dani into a hug and said “I’m glad you two worked things out”

Dani pulled away and smiled at my mum and then said “how could we not. We are made for each other”

I couldn’t help but smile at Dani. I took her hand and I said “come on let’s go and sit down with everyone else”

This felt right. Dani is the thing that was missing this whole time. How could I not see that.

The dinner was lovely, we all had a good time. It felt like Dani was a part of the family. I guess she always was and she always will be.
