Hailey's POV
Saturday, 6:15a.m.
I'm awake, for some strange reason. It's a Saturday, so usually I'd sleep in. I'm up, so why not find something constructive to do.
I got new curtains and bed sheets, so I decided to change out the old ones. They've been up for way too long. My mother couldn't afford to change them before now, so I got a little job after school to get them myself.
Saving is my best friend. It's how I afford what I want, when I want it. So I work on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
A notification can be heard on my phone, and as I do, I rush to check it, hoping it's Ria, but it's not. It's the group chat.
These idiots
Ash: gize unu have nuh plans today?
Me: Well yeah, mi have work and sumn else.
Nico: Sumn else?? Weh yuh mean?
Me: Mi nuh ready fi tell unu, cause unu nuh know how fi bill.
Veda: a true dat still, but no girl mi naav nuh plans.
Nico: mi naav none either.
I leave the conversation, clicking out of the chat. I see a message from Ria, just like I had hoped.
Ria: Good morning
Me: gm 😊
Ria: Umm
Me: What?
Ria: I don't know what that is...
Me: it's good morning?
Ria: No, good morning . Good morning, not gm.
Me: 🙄, I'm sorry, good morning.
Ria: Thank you. I'm picking you up at about 3 p.m., is that okay?
Me: Uh, no, not directly.
Ria: When are you available?
Me: Maybe 5
Ria: Okay. I'll see you then.
Me: Alright.
With that, the conversation ends. I have work at 9:30 so I find more idle gesturing to do in the meantime.
Ria's POV
It's roughly 4a.m. and I'm up as usual. Usually, my face would sulk as I think of the boring day ahead of me but not this morning. This morning, I'm bursting with excitement. Somebody looking at me couldn't tell that because I don't know how to squeal and dance when I'm excited or happy. One thing for sure, tho, my face does not sport its usual dull, uninterested look, in it's place is a brighter than usual smile. I am genuinely excited to spend the night with her. Even if it is a boring grown-up party.
I lay in bed smiling up at my ceiling, making up fake scenarios in my head. They keep me occupied and happy for a little while.
I have been smiling for way too long, and my cheeks hurt. I pick up my phone when it pings. In picking up my phone, I see that it's currently 6:30a.m. and I know chances are Hailey's awake.
I text her, and the conversation ends a few minutes later, with her telling me I can't see her until 5, I'm tempted to ask why, but I don't. If only she knew how excited I was to see her.
I'm guessing she will be busy for today, so I decide to leave her to whatever it is she needs to do.
There's a knock at my door. A sigh leaves me as I walk over to the door. I'm in too much of a good mood for anything to ruin it, but in this house, it is very much possible.
"Let me guess, my father would like to see me," I smile, but it's obvious that I'm uninterested.
At this point, it's roughly 7:30 a.m. and my father really shouldn't be here, but he's an unpredictable man, so I don't underestimate nor try to study him.
"Actually, no miss, your father is not here," Hillary, the messenger maid as I call her, informs me.
"Okay, Hillary, then what's the issue?" I question.
"It's miss Jania," she says, and if my jaw could dislocate and fall to the ground, it would've.
"Who?" I ask in disbelief, more like denial if I'm being honest.
