Hailey's POV
Friday, 5:30 p.m.

"1, 2, 3, 4 and twirl," my dance instructor says the other students in the club follow. We're currently learning a contemporary dance for competition in two weeks.

"A spin mi seh yuh fi spin big head bud, pay attention nuh mn!" she shouts at somebody behind me and we all chuckle.

'' Let's go from the top," she says, clicking the button on the speaker, and the song starts over.

We follow the steps of the routine until we reach the twirl where we stop.

"Ms Thomas, your solo comes in here," she reminds me, and I nod. A few eyes bore holes in the back of my head, and I roll my eyes.

"It's my final year. Let me have this," I thought to myself, rolling my eyes at the thought.

"Wasn't that supposed to be my solo?" Trisha asks from across the room, and I roll my eyes.

One thing eno, the moment mi a prosper, Trisha head a guh hurt har.

"No, I said you should practice the part just in case," Miss Shavel confirms, and I see her roll her eyes.

A few minutes pass, and I'm halfway through my solo. Everybody else is idling around. It's almost 6p.m. at this point, and we need to be wrapping up.

"Okay, so we'll run through from the top to Hailey's solo," she instructs, and we fall into position.

The music blares through the speakers, and we keep up with the beat of the song. I take over when it's my time, doing what I should and stopping before the music ends as that's the only part we've completed.

"Change and pack up!" She yells when everyone is walking around and talking. We do as we're told.

I close up after everybody leaves and head through the school gate where I'm met with Ian.

"Hey Martin," I smile and he opens the passenger door, I enter, and he closes it, after which he enters into the driver's seat.

"Hi miss Thomas," he returns my greeting.

"How's your employer," I ask annoyed.

"I haven't seen her since last week Friday," he sighs and continues, "all the orders I've gotten is via call."

"She hasn't spoken to me at all, at least she has the decency to call you," I sigh and he nods.

"She's so sometimeish and it's annoying," I roll my eyes and he chuckles a little.

"She can be like that. I think she's just scared," he tells me honestly and I turn to look at him.

"Scared of what exactly?" I question and he shrugs, keeping his stare fixed on the road ahead.

"That's not mine to tell," he sighs and I accept it.

"Okay,"

The rest of the drive is in comfortable silence, the only source of sound being the music playing on the radio.

Incoming call from "mi amor❤️"

"Hello?" I pick up the device, putting it to my ear.

"Girl Festo a have wah party tomorrow, come wid mi nuh, mi sister a guh and she wah mi follow har but mi nuh wah guh wid she alone cause she have wah dutty style weh she a guh guh weh lef mi guh chat," she complains and I can't help but chuckle because it's true.

"I'll ask mommy," I tell her and she says thank you before hanging up.

The car pulls up to my gate and I hop out, saying thank you to Ian before he drives away. I open the gate, closing it behind me as I walk through. My mom is usually at work when I come home from school which is why she hasn't asked me about the Range Rover that drops me off every evening for the past two weeks and nobody in the community has snitched yet.
