Ria's POV
"Wish I could say the same," I reply to Scott, who's standing before me. I reach out and take a glass of wine from the woman walking around with the tray."So who's your plus one?" He continues to make conversation, I pull her stool closer to mine as she stares cluelessly. She's honestly such a gem.
"None of your business, Scott, go bother somebody else," I say, taking a sip from my glass. He knows how to stir me up when I'm in a good mood.
"Who's the girl you won't let go of?" He questions, and I roll my eyes out of pure annoyance.
"My plus one," I inform him, and she looks over, smiles, and does a little wave. He returns it so he doesn't look bad, but I could see it on his face that he really didn't want to.
"Oh," is his simple response. Mischief flashes across his eyes, and I stand, forcing her to stand with me.
As I walk past him I lean over and whisper in his ear, "don't fuck with my night."
He smiles at this and I know he won't listen but it was worth a shot. Hopefully he isn't his usual self and he actually gives me the peace I hope for even though I won't get it nevertheless.
"Where are we going?" She asks, keeping in step with me.
"Let's take a picture over there," I suggest and she follows. Finding the clearing I signal to Marvin to come take the pictures and he hurries over. I hand him the phone and he quickly snaps a few photos.
"Miss Romanov," I sigh at the mention of my name. With Hailey still clung to my arm we spin to meet the person that called my name.
"Hello Mrs Harris," I fake a slight smile and she pulls me in for a hug causing Hailey to let go. I have my hands awkwardly tucked to my side as she squeezes quite firmly. She does that greeting kiss on the cheek that most rich people do and it makes me feel icky but as I do, I keep my composure.
"I see your father is absent," she says, scanning around the room all while holding a cup of champagne up to her head, only taking it down when her eyes return to me.
While she was looking around, Hailey regained her soft hold on my arm. I was getting annoyed but her embrace brought a sense of peace putting me at ease.
"As he always is," I roll eyes as the words leave my mouth. With my response she nods.
"Well have a wonderful rest of your night," the lady in blue says before disappearing into the crowd.
"Xaiya," the same annoying voice from earlier greets my ears and to say I'm annoyed is an understatement.
Ignoring him as best as possible, I hold the hand of the small girl leading her in the direction of the balcony.
"Ria, I know you heard me," he continues and I continue walking, losing him in the crowd.
"It looks like you won't get any peace tonight," Hailey laughs as soon as we're standing on the balcony.
"It's hell," I smile.
I pull her into my arms just because I can. It's been a hell of a night already, and I've only been here for roughly an hour.
"You smell amazing," she smiles into my neck and I wrap my hands around her lower back while her hands are wrapped around my shoulders.
"I taste even better," I whisper to myself, barely audible. She eases her body off mine and stares at me with wide eyes. I smirk slightly and she hits both my shoulders jokingly.
"Ouch, what?" I chuckle and she rolls her eyes at me.
"I make your eyes roll without even touching you, damn I'm good," I joke and she hisses through a smile.
