Ch. 14: Only More Questions

Loona sat down in the lobby of Stolas's mansion. Her foot rapidly tapped against the ground. She had gone immediately to Stolas for help. His face when he saw Jack's condition was of pure shock and worry. Stolas had taken Jack to his observatory and hadn't said a thing since. Loona was beyond worried. Each second passed felt like an eternity.

Octavia, who had just heard of Jack's condition, walked up to Loona. She lightly tapped Loona's shoulder. Loona looked up at her and Octavia could only look see a worried lover. She sat down next to Loona.

Loona: "Did he?"

Octavia: "No. I haven't heard from my father yet. It sounds like he's working his hardest though. How are you holding up?"

Loona: "Fine... I'm fine."

She turned to face Octavia but winced and held her side. The demon had definitely bruised her up. Loona turned her gaze back to the floor and held her head in her hands.

Loona: "Why? *Sniff* He didn't deserve this... I shouldn't have kept him here-"

Octavia: "Hey, it's not your fault. He's human. He's not invincible."

Loona: "...I said that exact same thing to him and he... I'm so stupid. If only I- I should've-"

Octavia: "Loona..."

Octavia placed her hand on Loona's back, rubbing it gently. Loona tried to hold back her tears. Her body shook with guilt and regret.

Octavia: "You can't blame yourself. It won't change the situation. Just know that he's alive and be content with that."

Loona: "*Sniff* Ok..."

Octavia and Loona sat in silence for the next few minutes. It was as if their way of comforting each other. Octavia looked at Loona with concerned eyes. She wasn't too familiar with love, but she did know that Loona was deep in it.

Octavia: "So... how did you guys meet?"

Loona: "*Sniff* What?"

Octavia: "You and Jack. It's not exactly common for a human to be in hell, let alone have hooked up with a hellhound."

Loona: "...Well, we originally met in the human world. He had found my phone when I had dropped it. Heh, I think I scared the shit out of him when I asked for it back. I roughed him up a bit and the cops found us and chased us. I made a portal and he followed me."

Octavia: "Really? Not exactly the smartest move."

Loona: "Heh, yeah. It was during execution day. We got chased by an executioner prick for hours. Had to save his neck a few times. I think that's why..."

Octavia: "Hm?"

Loona: "Before we confessed to each other, he told me why he felt so angry at himself. He hated that he couldn't pay me back for the times I saved him. It ate at him from the inside."

Octavia: "How did you guys confess?"

Loona: "*Chuckle* We told each other in a hotel if you could believe it."

Octavia: "*Giggle* That is pretty unusual but it's cute. I'm happy. Hey, lets go check on him and Stolas."

Loona: "Won't your dad be mad? He sounded pretty serious when he took Jack into that room."
