While hidden underneath the Ford Explorer, Grant could hear the footsteps of two people approaching the side of the vehicle.
He tried to remain as still as possible so that he would not be detected. For that if he was caught, this would foul his plan before he even got a chance to initiate it.
Approaching the car, unaware of the dangerous and wanted criminal that lurked underneath, was Bo and Quincey.
Quincey had dropped his wallet underneath the car seat. Bo offered to walk with him so they both decided to go back and grab it.
Listening in quietly, Grant could hear the boys flirting with one another. He internally rolled his eyes — he wasn't all that interested in hearing about their sex lives or their dinner plans they're attending later in the week.
It was until they got onto the topic of Aurora that his interest was piqued. This is the information he was really engrossed in. Aurora was the topic of discussion that was most important in his opinion.
"Did you see the way that Nick kissed her hand?" exclaimed Bo excitedly.
Bo stood behind Quincey, holding the door for him while he was searching for his wallet.
"I did and I think they would look good together," Quincey smiled. "Do you think she would even give him the time of day?" He questioned curiously.
Bo hesitated before he answered because he wasn't quite sure about the answer. He remembered that Aurora said she'd potentially see someone, but after Grant; her trust had been shattered.
"Honestly, I'm not sure," Bo answered. "I think she was attracted to him, yes. I don't think she'd be opposed to going on a date with Nick. But this is what you have to remember, Grant really did a number on her." said Bo sadly.
Grant smiled underneath the car to himself that Aurora never found anyone else since he disappeared.
"He was never found, right?" murmured Quincey.
"No, he never was and I pray to God it stays that way. Aurora doesn't need any more trauma in her life." Bo said sincerely.
From underneath the car, Grant continued to listen intently to their conversation. He was displeased on how much Bo didn't want him and Aurora together.
Nothing would stand in the way of getting what was rightfully his. It's not like he had intended to cause Aurora any trauma, he just couldn't stop himself from his constant needs.
Grant's need to kill was entrancing. There was no way for him to stop. He had been brought up this way, and there was little anyone could do once his mind was set.
It wasn't like Grant had always wanted to kill people. No, that wasn't the case, it was his father who made him hunt and become good at what he does.
As he got older, he couldn't resist the urges. It became harder and harder to fight them. Then one day, he just stopped trying to fight the urge at all.
Grant knew who he was. He was a killer, it was coursing through his veins. He had no shame in that, no in fact, he thrived because of it.
The boys finally found Quincey's wallet and proceeded to walk back towards the carnival, hoping to catch up to Nick and Aurora.
They hoped that they could convince her to give Nick a chance since he seemed like a stand up guy. In their minds, it was finally time for her to move on and start again with someone new.
