as they made it out of the surpent's pass, vada took a moment to work on koa's wing. "the wall should be up ahead, she told the others as she healed her canine companion's wing.

"what do you mean? it's right there." sokka said, pointing to the wall. vada looked into the distance only to see a blurry haze. "yeah. that's what I said." she hissed.

ying suddenly gasped, "oh no!" she yelled, vada bent the water back into her pouch. "what's going on?" sokka questioned, looking at the woman.

"the baby's coming." she hissed.

vada walked closer and guided ying into a laying position and then she checked her cervical dilation.

Ten centimeters. she turned back to the others. "this baby is coming out now." she said.

"what?! can't she hold it in or something?!" sokka panicked and katara rolled her eyes. "sokka, calm down. I helped gran gran deliver lots of babies back home." she told her brother.

"i delivered a bunch, too." vada stated.

the white haired girl stood, "aang. get some rags. sokka, suki bring me water. a lot of it. toph. make an earth tent, a big one." she commanded.

toph made a tent and vada turned to katara "you, come with me. and once suki is back with that water, she's helping, too.

vada also had toph make a large, waterproof bath of stone, so that ying could have a water birth.

suki quickly came with a basin of water and aang came with some rags.

vada had also bended some water nearby into the bath to fill it up.

then, she used her bending to warm the water to a relaxing temperature.

"alright, ying. I'm going to need you to disrobe for this one."

her husband, who was next to her, looked at vada strangely. "wouldn't that expose her to everyone?"

the white haired girl raised and eyebrow. "sir, your wife is in active labour in the middle of nowhere and in a lot of pain. are you seriously worried about decency?"

the man shut his mouth and helped his wife disrobe. vada helped her into the wat water and hat her sit comfortably against the wall of the bath.

vada examined her cervix and the baby was crowning. "katara, where is sokka with that water?" she hissed. she needed ying to stay hidrated through this.

"okay, deep breaths and then a big push." she told the woman and she began pushing. sokka, who had just entered, fainted at the sound of ying's strain. along with the water he brought.

"katara, get him out of here." the white-haired girl said to her friend.

she was holding her hand by the baby's head.

"deep breath and push!"   ying pushed, and the baby's whole head was out, she only had to get his shoulders out and then the placenta.

"one more, ying. you're doing amazingly."

ying pushed again and vada felt the shoulders come out and she pulled the baby out of the water.

quickly, she used her bending to get rid of any blockages in the baby's throat and told ying to push one more time for the placenta.

once it was out, vada cut the ambilical chord and iced it do that it could fall off.

then she washed the baby gently in clean water while katara helped ying out of the (now bloody) tub.

ying rerobed to be decent as katara placed some rags under her lady parts so that she wouldn't bleed everywhere.

then, vada handed ying her baby, "congratulations. it's a girl." she then began to heal her lady parts just so the bleeding would slow down.

once vada was done, katara went to get the others. "c'mon guys." she said and lead them inside.

vada was standing near the family proudly, she thought that she and katara did a good job.

the baby was cooing and making sounds as everyone stared at the small family. "she sounds healthy," toph commented.

"it's so... squishy-looking." sokka stated, earning an elbow in the ribs from both suki and vada.
"what are you going to name her?" vada asked the family.

"i want her name to be unique, and to mean something." ying stated.

aang was shedding a tear and walked closer to them.

"I've been going through a difficult time, lately." he said, "but you have made me hopeful again."

ying smiled at aang and then looked at her husband. "I know what her name should be." she said, "Hope."

after vada had gone over every single detail of post partum care, and by every single detail, even the tiny things.

but she actually just told them what to do if ying's uterus fell out, or what to do if the baby won't stop crying. things like that.

she also told them not to hesitate to send for her if they're worried about something.

she then headed back to her friends, where aang took his glider from toph. "I'm going to find appa."

"see you in the big city." sokka smiled. "say hi to appa for me," she told the boy, patting his bald head.

he then opened his glider and flew off. then vada turned to koa and worked on his wing. it was almost completely healed just a bit of bruising left.

"how's your wing, boy?" she asked and he opened them, taking flight before descending again.

she felt happy that her furry friend could fly again and she hugged him tightly. "good boy, koa." she praised.

she petted his head, "go hunt."

with that, he speedily flew off to go find something to eat.
