vada was seated between zuko and minako on the boat while Azula, mai and ty lee conversed.
"I'm so excited to spend the weekend on ember island." ty lee grinned.
vada didn't mind ty lee. she was nice and kind, and she always had a good attitude. unlike mai.
and now zuko, too.
"its going to be great to hang out on the beach and do nothing." the girl in pink continued.
"doing nothing is a waste of time. we're being sent away on a forced vacation." zuko quipped. vada pulled him down to stay seated.
he'd been like this since they left and it was beginning to irritate her.
"lighten up," Azula hissed, "dad wants to meet with his advisors alone. don't take it personally. they even sent our cousin and the water tribe barbarian with us."
"hey!" both vada and minako yelled in unison.
the boat reached the dock a few minutes later and vada smiled at the two old ladies in front of them. minako mimicked her actions.
"welcome to ember island, kids." the two women said in unison. "hello," vada greeted kindly, bowing to the women.
they were all lead to a small home near the shore. the inside smelt of perfume and a slight hint of dust. it reminded vada of master yugoda back home.
"it smells like old lady in here." zuko commented with a grimace. vada smiled. "I wonder why."
the women lead the girls to their room, where five beds stood across the room.
"i love the seashell bedspread!" ty lee marvelled while vada smiled. "if only it were in blue," she said.
mai winced, "you two can not be serious. it looks like a beach fairy threw up all over it."
the waterbender glowered at the gloomy girl. "maybe you just don't have any taste."
she then brushed past mai to go stand by zuko.
just then, lo and li took of their robes, "time to hit the beach!" they whooped.

vada let all her hair down and wore a pink bandeau top with matching pants. her hair was long enough to cover the scar on her back, not that she was insecure about it.
everyone walked down to the beach. Azula and her trio walking in front, vada and hers walking in the back.
Zuko had a sun umbrella in his hand and urged vada to join him, but she refused, "I like to bask in the sun, zu." she smiled and placed her pink, flower themed towel down on the sand.
Zuko placed the umbrella near her towel and sat down where her head would lay. "you can rest your head on my lap." he said, looking away from her.
"aw, you're so sweet."
after a few minutes, vada stood up.
"I'm gonna go get some ice cream. would you like some?" she asked zuko who was lazing in the shade.
"I'll go buy it. you stay here." he replied, beginning to stand up, but vada stopped him, "don't worry, I'll go with minako."
Zuko looked around her to see minako being chased by a crab.
"uh huh."
vada laughed and walked towards minako picking the crab up and putting it down elsewhere. then, the two of them walked to an ice cream stand.
as they stood in the line, two boys approached them. "hey, I'm having a party tonight. you two should come by." he said.
vada shrugged along with minako, "sure, why not?"
