the other side of Incheon, Moonbyul was meeting with Solar for the day.
Moonbyul arrived at Paradise City Plaza in Incheon. Plaza is an event-type shopping arcade built to create a trendy lifestyle, presenting a hub of Paradise City filled with restaurants, cafés.
Moonbyul had arranged to meet Solar in front of the Paradise hotel fountain. As he stood there on top of the wave-like pavement waiting for the woman to arrive, he suddenly felt a little excited. He had been talking to Solar almost every day since they saw each other in Busan, but he had only heard her voice and never seen her face. How had she been? Did she look any different?
He began to walk around the edge of the fountain nervously.
At that moment, his vision suddenly turned dark as a pair of soft hands covered his eyes. "Guess who?" a familiar voice giggled from behind.
Moonbyul grabbed onto the woman's hands and laughed. "You're late," he said.
Solar frowned and pointed to the traffic on the road that ran alongside the fountain. "I had to get out of the taxi and walk here because the traffic wasn't moving."
Moonbyul looked at the woman and smiled. "I'm so happy to see you," he said with sincerity.
Solar looked into the man's eyes and felt her heart race.
After thinking it over for the last few weeks, she was certain that she had feelings for this man now, but had he realized yet. After all, she talked to him every single day on the phone and often slipped in words of praise. Wasn't it obvious?
But then again, she remembered seeing him having dinner with Jennie the night before. Was he only talking to her because he wanted to get close to Jennie?
At that moment, Solar realized Moonbyul was still holding onto her hands, so she blushed a little as she pulled them away. Moonbyul cleared his throat awkwardly and also blushed.
Solar looked beautiful today. Since the last time Moonbyul had seen her, she had cut her hair into a feminine bob and she had lost a little bit of weight. It wasn't too obvious, but she definitely had a healthy glow to her. On her feet were a pair of white Converse shoes and she paired them with a light pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Unlike last time, when she was at a professional event, she was a lot more casual and it made her even more attractive than before.
Moonbyul felt his heart race when he looked at the woman. If only she wasn't Jennie's girlfriend. He would definitely pursue her. Too bad she wasn't interested in men.
The two friends looked around the fountain awkwardly. Although they talked every day, seeing each other in real life was a completely different experience. They suddenly felt a little shy, like two strangers on a blind date.
"Have you eaten yet?" Solar asked.
Moonbyul shook his head. "I haven't had anything since dinner last night," he said.
Solar frowned. She didn't want to think about his dinner the previous night. She remembered seeing him walk into the restaurant she recommended with Jennie and seeing him laughing and smiling as he sat opposite her.
"By the way, thank you for your recommendation. The food at that Danjijib restaurant was delicious," Moonbyul smiled.
Solar furrowed her brows and started walking towards a Korean restaurant that faced the square. "Well, I guarantee that the food today will be even better," she said competitively. She suddenly felt a little jealous of her best friend again. How could she let Jennie have a better experience with the man she liked? Especially when she was the one that recommended the restaurant that they went to? Besides, Jennie already had a boyfriend; she couldn't have Moonbyul too.
Moonbyul looked at the woman curiously and started following her. Why did she seem a little upset?
"By the way, don't you have work? Does Jennie know you're here?" Moonbyul asked.
"Jennie's father went to the Maldives for a holiday, so he also gave me some time off. I don't think Jennie knows I'm here, I haven't spoken to her for a while," Solar replied, feeling a little frustrated that Moonbyul was suddenly mentioning Jennie. "We often spend weeks and even months not talking to each other," Solar added. If this man was only meeting with her because he wanted to know more about Jennie, she was going to be really mad.
Moonbyul sensed the frustration in Solar's voice and began to wonder whether she and Jennie had an argument. Was that why neither of them told the other that they were in Incheon? Moonbyul suddenly felt a little bad for Solar. Jennie never mentioned Solar when she was around him and she never acknowledged that Solar was her girlfriend. Worst of all, they were in a long distance relationship. Yet, Solar was still so loyal to her and even worked for her father. Moonbyul suddenly felt a pang of jealousy. If Solar was his girlfriend, he would definitely treat her much better than that!
At that moment, he poured her a cup of tea and handed her the menu. "What would you like to eat?" he asked thoughtfully. He suddenly felt the urge to comfort her...
