Thomas stood at the arrivals hall of the airport and glanced down at his watch. He had been told to pick up a VIP that was flying all the way from Thailand!
This was the first time he was picking up a client from so far away. Usually, they only dealt with the Korean because they were close by and it didn't cost them much to fly them over, so he knew this man was definitely important.
Of course, Thomas knew that the junket operations managed by Everett involved illegal dealings; he knew about the money laundering, the high-interest loans and the man's connections to the gangs. But, he wasn't afraid of being involved as long as he received money.
He wasn't a criminal mastermind or anyone with particular smarts. He was simply obedient and loyal, so Everett trusted him. But, it was because of this that he was being unknowingly set up as a scapegoat. Why else was he always the face of the operation?
Unfortunately for Everett and Carol, they were being investigated by two of the top police units in Seoul and Busan, and their involvement had already been confirmed.
Now, all the Interpol and the SPU had to do was get everyone into the same room with Minnie and catch them while they were in the middle of an illegal deal. Easy!
Thomas glanced up at the arrivals board and saw that Minnie's flight had landed 30 minutes ago. Dependent on how long it took to get through customs and collect his luggage, Thomas expected the man to be out at any second. So, he lifted a sign with the man's name written on it and waited patiently.
However, 10 minutes passed, then 20, then 30...
Soon, an entire hour passed, but the man was still nowhere to be seen.
Where was Minnie? Did he get detained at customs?
Thomas immediately picked up his phone and called Everett. "I still haven't seen Mr. Minnie yet. I'm worried he may have been detained in customs," the man panicked.
But, on the other end of the phone, Everett Pang replied calmly, "He's fine. Mr. Minnie is here with me..."
Everett then put down his phone and stared at the man in front of him.
A moment ago, he was about to leave the casino when he was suddenly approached by a tall blond-haired man.
"Mr. Pang, am I right? My name is Minnie," the man said in English as he stuck out his hand.
Minnie was here to catch the big fish; he wasn't wasting time on an obvious scapegoat, so when he saw Thomas waiting for him at the airport, he walked right past him and came directly to look for Everett.
"I've done my research, Mr. Pang. I have connections on this side of the world and I know you are the person I should be speaking to. If you want me to take you seriously, you better deal with me in person from now on instead of sending your little footman," the Thai man scoffed.
Everett trembled a little. There was something about this man that was quite intimidating. Maybe it was the indifference in his voice or the coldness in his eyes, or perhaps, the fact that he was meant to be a ruthless drug trafficker.
"Let's find somewhere to talk about serious business..." Minnie said impatiently.
Everett glanced down at his watch. It was already midnight!
He couldn't call his wife or Rawson for help, so he took a deep breath and led the man to his office; he would have to deal with this on his own.
...
The next morning, Jennie arrived at the teahouse with Moon-byul and they opted for a private room even though the teahouse was empty. After all, they were having a highly confidential meeting. A few minutes later, Lalisa and Mi-yeon arrived and they also entered the room.
As soon as Moon-byul saw Lalisa, he was completely shocked. "Lalisa Manoban?" he yelled in disbelief.
Lalisa was also a little surprised, but realized it made sense why he always saw this man around Jennie, so his reaction wasn't as extreme.
"No wonder you weren't detained in Thailand," Moon-byul sighed. "Are you both Interpol agents?"
Mi-yeon looked at the awkward exchange between the two men. Had they met before?
Of course, she wasn't around when Jennie and Moon-byul were trying to catch Lalisa so she didn't understand why the man was so shocked.
So, she stuck out her hand casually and said, "Mi-yeon Choi, Thai Interpol Agent."
She then pointed to Lalisa and said, "I assume you've met already. This is Lalisa Manoban, my partner on this mission. He was a former Thai Interpol Agent but has recently been promoted to the head of Busan Interpol."
Moon-byul's mouth opened wide in shock.
"You've certainly hidden your identity well," Moon-byul praised as he shook the man's hand.
But, he had no idea that Lalisa still had one other identity that he didn't know about.
Lalisa glanced at Jennie and snuck a wink at his girlfriend. They couldn't overload this man with too many revelations at once. So, they were going to keep their relationship a secret until later...
