That night, Jennie arrived at a seafood restaurant. From the restaurant, there was a beautiful view of the Han River.
At night, when the skies were clear, it was a beautiful sight to see.
As soon as Jennie walked into the restaurant, she spotted Bambam and his parents waiting for her. But, to her surprise, she also spotted another familiar person.
"Dad?" Jennie asked in surprise as she approached.
Jennie was shocked. She hadn't seen her father for almost a year. What was he doing in Incheon?
Jennie's father walked over to his dear daughter and gave her a hug. "Auntie Emma and Uncle Lisa told me about you and Bambam, so I came to see my future son-in-law. Why didn't you tell me that you're dating Bambam?" he asked.
Jennie looked at her father in confusion. Future son-in-law? Dating?
At that moment, Mother Manoban nudged her son. "Go and pull out a seat for your girlfriend," she said.
Bambam immediately glanced at his mother awkwardly. "I heard what you said to Marissa the other day, so I decided to ask around. Supposedly, the two of you were already very intimate at the ball last month. No wonder you brought her back to our place. Why didn't you tell us that you and Ruby were a couple? Don't you think that your parents deserve to know?"
"That's not it, Mom. I think..."
Father Kim looked at the young man with disappointment, "Were you planning to avoid taking responsibility?"
Jennie shook her father's arm, "Dad, Bambam's not like that. I think there's a misunderstanding."
"Look at you, you're already sticking up for him..." the old man groaned.
At that moment, Father Manoban stood up and said calmly, "Let's all sit down and have a proper chat. Henry, you don't have to worry, Bambam has always been very responsible. He will definitely take good care of your daughter."
Jennie's father nodded his head and sat down. "Yes, I know that Bambam has always been the responsible one. Unlike your other son...what was his name again? Is he still involved with the gangs?"
Father Manoban sighed, "You must be talking about Lalisa. That rascal's actually here in Incheon as well, but I don't want to talk about him."
Jennie felt a little uncomfortable when she heard these people talk bad about Lalisa. They had no idea who he really was and what he had been through.
"Oh yes, Lalisa. I remember now, he was named after you. But, I heard you disowned him after Laura died," Jennie's father said.
"If that rascal didn't lose his memory, I wouldn't have taken him back!" Father Manoban said stubbornly as his face turned red and a vein popped out from the side of his head. He then gripped his chest in pain.
Bambam's mother immediately handed the old man a glass of water and patted him on the back, "Calm down, Lisa. Your heart's not good. You can't blame your son. He is still your flesh and blood. It must have been difficult for him to witness his mother's death and be left with no friends nor family in Daejeon ."
Jennie glanced at Bambam's mother. Just like her son, she seemed like a very kind and understanding person. It was a shame that she started off as a mistress.
"I don't care what his reason was. He should have just come home instead of joining the gangs! Lucky you gave me Bambam," the old man smiled.
He then relaxed and glanced at Jennie, "Best of all, he's found me a wonderful daughter-in-law too."
"Yes! Who knew we'd go from being good friends to becoming family!" Jennie's father cheered excitedly.
Jennie immediately turned to correct her father, but Bambam glanced at Jennie worriedly and pleaded with her not to say a word. He was worried that his father wouldn't be able to handle another shock for the day. So, she quickly swallowed back her words and decided she could explain everything to her father in private later.
After all...the old man was technically right about the possibility of becoming a family; he simply had the wrong son...
But, just as Jennie took a sip of wine awkwardly, the old man suddenly pulled out a ring and said to his son, "Actually, this is the reason why I called everyone here today."
"Henry, this is the first time I've seen my son with a girlfriend and I'm ecstatic that it's your daughter," the old tycoon said.
"I actually had a medical checkup last week and discovered that my heart isn't doing too well. I really want to see my son get married and have children before I die. Since the two of you are mature a.d.u.l.ts, let's just skip all the dating and jump straight to marriage. What do you say?"
