"That guy looked very comfortable around you. Why does he think he has any right to hold you like that?"
Izumi had no idea what to answer to Akito when he asked her the question that had been in his brain since he saw her exchange with Yuzuru.
Playing dumb seemed to be the best course of action.
"It was just a hug, Aki. Yuzuru is an old friend."
"It was a very lingering hug. He looked more like your fiance than me."
Izumi had to admit that she hated this jealous side of his. She could already imagine the scenario in his head if he even heard about half of her history with the other skater.
"That's nonsense... We just hadn't seen each other in over a year, I think it's normal to miss your close friends."
"I just don't like him and his attitude."
She almost wanted to argue that the one person who started the heated exchange hadn't been Yuzuru, but it seemed like adding more fire to the flame was a really bad idea at that moment.
"He's just not used to people not knowing who he is." Izumi eventually said, knowing that Yuzuru couldn't care less but at least it didn't seem like she was taking sides on this.
"I just think I would've heard of him if he was that big..."
"Aki, he's a double Olympic champion and does sold-out solo shows every year. The man is definitely big in figure skating and even outside of it, his face is everywhere."
"Are you defending him or something?"
"I'm just saying that he isn't exactly someone I want as an enemy."
No, she definitely wanted him as something way different. Had Akito even imagined the memories that were running through her mind, he would either be jealous enough to do something crazy or straight up break up with her.
Truth be told, she wasn't sure she would be that mad if he did finish things off and that was instantly a sign of the importance of their relationship over the value of Yuzuru's friendship. And well, she was marrying this man.
"I hate this." he instantly said and she could see the rage in his eyes.
This new possessive side of his was certainly unexpected, even if she could give him some reason for his fears.
Truth be told, if Yuzu came to her and held his inviting arms for her to take, she would probably be in his embrace in seconds. It was just that her body and mind were so easily consumed by the thoughts of him that Izumi knew she would take the opportunity if it was placed in front of her.
This knowledge was scary, not just for herself but also for the future of her relationship with Akito. He was the man that Izumi's mother thought to be her perfect future husband and here she was, thinking of jumping into another man's arms if the chance ever presented itself.
In all fairness, Yuzuru was no ordinary man but this had nothing to do with his public persona but rather about her feelings towards the other skater. The same feelings that she had once denied having.
Her fiance seemed to notice how she was in an entirely different world.
He unpacked his bags as she sat on the bed in her little world of thoughts, he looked at her for quite a while, realizing that his woman was completely clueless about his eyes on her.
He wondered where her mind was and those feelings of jealousy came back quicker than ever. He had never seen her like this when he was in the room, the only key difference about any other time they had been together was the fact that she had been hugged by the other man. Was she thinking of him?
Akito was quick to make the decision that he wanted her mind back on the present, back on him. With those thoughts in his brain, he closed the distance that separated him from the bed and her, noting just how long it took her to realize that he was right there, looking at her with fiery eyes.
"Aki..."
"I will take your mind off every single thought running through that beautiful brain of yours."
Izumi gulped, knowing that he had noted something wrong in her or felt her more distant than usual. She certainly didn't insult his intelligence by openly telling him he was wrong.
As much as he had that determined look on his face, she knew well that it was impossible to take her mind off the incredible force of nature that was Yuzuru, but she still allowed him to think he could.
She expected him to change things up a bit, but not in the way he ended up doing so.
Akito kissed her lips with raw passion, almost too aggressive for her liking. She still complied with it, trying her best not to get lost in the memories of the other man when her fiance was kissing her.
He made her stand, forcing her body up and making her gulp. Had this been someone else, she would've found it attractive, maybe even sexy, but there was something about this aggressive side of Akito that didn't offer the reassurance of the thing being just an act and allowing her to fall into the sexy scenario.
Well, her suspicions about his shift in attitude would only be confirmed when he looked straight into her face with an authoritative look and spoke.
"On your knees."
In the aftermath of that night, Izumi realized just how much she didn't know about the man currently sleeping by her side because the man she saw on that night was far from being the nice and gentle soul she thought to know.
But was it too late to get the hell out of there?
