Kenzies pov

it had been a few days
maddie and mi talked short moments after each class
she wasn't safe there
she was so so scared

i walk inside to hear Kasey scream
fuck not agian

i run up to me and kalanis shared bedroom to see her in the corner shaking and kalani with a belt in hand

"kalani...let kasey up.."

kasey wasn't my friend or anything but my sister treated her like shit

"no she's alittle slut! she's gonna finsh t-"

"maddie wouldn't want thwt"

she runs to me as if she could kill me and i mouth to kassy ti run

kalani slammed me agianst our wall
my world went black with pain

kalani barely ever hit me
unless i mentioned maddie
she would mentally black out and there was no stopping her or snapping her out of it until after she was done

"kenzie..?" she says lowly
i sit up in pain and look at my sister

she inhales "i...i didn't mean too..i.."

"You blanked on me, i know, i purposely said what i said because kasey..she's not my friend but she was scared shitless and you weren't gonna not beat her if i didn't say it. she's been beat enough.."

kalani inhales and nods as she sits on her bed
then i see it the bandage on her side peeking out

i walk over to my sister and yank the shirt up and undo the bandages and sigh as i kiss her cheek "You did this after you realized you hurt me so bad, didn't you?" she just nods and i sigh

"She's out there kalani.."

"you don't know that.."

"but i do..i do.."

she nods as i get up and get ready for class

her class to be exact

as i sat in class micah came and wiggled into my lap

her eyes darted to me but i mouthed it was fine

after class i take him to her and she smiles and hugs me and i jump from pain

kalani beat the shit out of me last night

"what's..what's wrong?" she says reaching for me and i inhale "nothing mads..i just fell.."

"bullshit" she says pulling me to her lifting my shirt

it was just me and her and micah
she let my shirt drip once she saw

"w-ho.."

i knew the words i was about to say was going to make her world flip upside down

"kalani.."

Maddie's pov

"Kalani.."

my head spinned as my heartbeat increased

"what..n-o.."

i say as micah plays on my phone "After..after you were taken she spiraled..Self harm and her hatred towards everyone and thing...umm...i was just getting home..and her girlfriend or more so 'property' was getting it agian..i couldn't watch her hurt the ooor girl agian..so i said "maddie wouldn't want that.."

i open my mouth to speak but she cuts me off

"She blanks..whenever i mention you she blanks..She thinks it's her fault..she hates herself more then anything else in this world
but after she beat me she went and hurt herself..badly. And it's her house so it's not like i can just call mom..mom is afraid of her"

i inhale and open my mouth to speak as josh comes in and kisses my cheek "hi beautiful, you almost ready?"

i fake a smile and turn in kiss him "give me 30? she has a few questions about the lesson plan"

he smiles and nods and picks micah up and he says "Bye!" i've told micah not to say anything about seeing his auntie kenzie and he understands..he said "is it because daddy would hurt?" i nodded and he hasn't said a word to his dad about seeing her

i look back at kenzie and say

"can you bring her tomorrow to meet me for lunch?" i ask

"i..i can try..she's diffcult.."

i sigh and look at her "Tell her you found ashley and ashley wants to talk to her"

ashley was always the sweetest. till this day she was so clueless about it all

she sighs and nods
