August Thompson was in no mood to go to the county fair.

Despite her record of always attending, this year was different than the rest, she didn't feel like dressing up and participating in the activities she would usually do. To be frank, she'd rather just sit in her room and sleep.

She was already doing that, except in Jackie's bed as Grace went on and on about how she was waiting for this event for years.

"These will look so cute on you guys." Grace urged as she handed August a cowboy hat and Jackie a denim jacket. "Try it!"

August didn't accept the hat, it was just lying on her stomach as her back laid flat against the mattress, she only played with the end strands of her hair, picking off at her dead ends while the sun shined in her eyes.

"I don't wanna go." Jackie deadpanned when she pulled the jacket over herself.

"Me too." August added as she moved the hat aside.

"You guys!" Grace whined, "You have to!"

With those words she pulled August up from her comfortable position, eventually forcing her upright as she also grabbed Jackie so they were all standing up. In a quick movement, Grace swept her hands over the blanket and grabbed onto the hat, placing it on August's head with a grin. "Look, the county fair is part of Jackie's assimilation into Silver Falls life."

"Silver Falls life sucks." August said flatly as Grace dragged them to view themselves.

The Thompson girl stood in front of the mirror with Jackie as they gazed at their reflection, sooner resulting to August removing her hat because of how stupid it looked on her, it seems Jackie didn't like the jacket either because she also tugged it off.

"And I don't think Alex cares if my outfit screams hoedown or not." Jackie muttered.

August furrowed her eyebrows before setting the hat on Jackie's head, adjusting it so it lie perfectly, "Now it does."

"Funny." Jackie gave her a look. "But seriously, I think he has more important things on his mind."

"Like what he's gonna have for breakfast today?" August inquired with a laugh, "Yeah, real important."
