Ch 12: Curse

NAOFUMI POV

After we helped the starving people, we stumbled upon a desolate village in the mountains.

Ryuji: what happened here?

Naofumi: don't know. Hickwaal just told me that this village needed medicine

Ryuji: then let's ask that guy

Ryuji pointed at a man who was leaving the village.

I approached the man, but before I could even ask the man ran away.

Man: doctor! Doctor, quick! The Heavenly Savior is here!!

Sometime later, another man approached us.

Doctor: hello, I'm a doctor who runs a clinic in this village. If I may ask, are you really the Heavenly Savior?

Naofumi: no, im just here to sell medicine

Doctor: well, even that would be a great help. I can't make anywhere enough for everyone

Raphtalia: everyone? is the entire village sick?

Doctor: yes

Naofumi: take us to them

The doctor led us to a clinic where we saw many sick patients.

A nurse who was tending to one of the sick approached us after seeing the doctor.

Nurse: oh, doctor. Are these people with you?

Doctor: they just arrived. They're going to sell us some medicine

Naofumi: looking at this, I should probably give it to them myself

I then spent the rest of the day healing the sick, while Ryuji was handling the negotiations for the medicine.

Later that night, we went to rent some rooms in the in.

Ryuji came into my room with the doctor and nurse, and then they handed me the payment for the medicine.

Naofumi: fifty silvers, huh? A bit short but I guess I'll take it

Doctor: we can't thank you all enough. With this, we've staved off the immediate crisis

Naofumi: that's enough for you!? All I did was treat their symptoms, I didn't cure them!

Doctor: yes, that's true

Naofumi: I don't really mind since I'm making money. Why don't we see which one dies first, you or your money?

Ryuji smacked me in the head.

Ryuji: quit being a douche. Besides this was Ren's fault, You're already taking advantage of these people after he caused this

Naofumi: huh!?

Raphtalia: Mr Ryuji, what do you mean

Ryuji: I asked the doctor about it and to sum it all up, Ren killed a dragon and thought it would disappear later like a game and left it to rot

Naofumi: he what!? First Motoyasu and now Ren

Out of those three, I assumed that Ren understood that this world is real, but now my opinion of him has gotten worse.

I pinched the bridge between my eyes in annoyance.

Naofumi: if that was the case, why didn't you guys dispose of the body before it rots?

Doctor: you see, the corpse started to emit poison, and there are also the monsters to worry about

The doctor and the nurse bowed.
