Ch 39: Trapped

RYUJI POV

After Ost granted me and Naofumi her power, we each fired a lazer that annihilated the core.

As the beams died down, I fell off Shin'en, completely exhausted from using another kinship attack.

Rishia: OST!

I glanced at Ost, who had collapsed on the floor.

Kyo: DAMN IT!! YOU'VE ALL RUINED MY PLANS!!

We all looked at Kyo, who started to rant about how we messed up his plans while calling us idiots.

Kyo: *sigh* Well, at least I got what I needed. It's about time I left this tortoise carcass

Kyo then raised his hand as he started gathering energy from whatever was left from Ost's core.

He then created a massive portal below his feet and stepped in.

Larc: That's!

Therese: There's no mistaking it

Kyo then glared at us as he began sinking into the portal.

Kyo: don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you Shield hero, Monster hero, and you complaying bitch! The next we'll meet, I'll be sure to kill you

As Kyo vanished into the portal, Larc and his party rushed towards it.

Larc: Hey, kiddo! Sorry about all this

Naofumi: what!?

Therese: Kyo went back to our world and this portal will close soon

Glass: we'll find a way to fix this

Larc: see ya later!

Larc and his party jumped into the portal.

Naofumi: Hey, wait!

Naofumi tries to go after them but a force prevents him.

Raphtalia: Master Naofumi!

Ryuji: dude! What happened?

Naofumi: I just got a notification saying I can't go after them

While Raphtalia and I (even though i can barely stand) rushed to help Naofumi.

Shin'en who was still illuminated with lightning while the rest of him still looks like a black silhouette jumps into the portal.

Ryuji: Shin'en what are you doing!?

Ost: Naofumi... Ryuji... I don't have much time left...

We glanced at Ost, who is struggling to raise her arm towards Naofumi.

Ost then poured magic into Naofumi before lowering her hand and she started vanishing into light.

Ost: i requested this exception for this one time... so that you may travel to the other world

Even though i only know Ost for a short time, tears flowed from my eyes, sad to see her dying although im not the olny one as the others were also feeling the same.

As Ost was almost gone, Raphtalia and Rishia held her hand.

Raphtalia: Thank you very much...

Rishia: no matter what... you'll always be our comrade...

Ost looked visibly surprised but started crying as well.

Ost: Thank you, for considering me your comrade... before I go there are things up must tell you

With the last of her energy, Ost told us that we need to collect the energy Kyo took with Naofumi's shield.

Ost also told us that when the Spirit Tortoise is defeated a monster called the Phoenix will attack.
