Where's my love - SYML

Marinette

"Listen, and then I saw this dress, and from then on I knew we just belonged together!" it whispered from my earpiece as I was sorting through my notes for the final exams.

"You wouldn't believe it, this shimmering green makes my hair look even redder. I feel like a mermaid! The prom can come!"

"Hm," I said, lost in thought, as I tucked a bunch of notes under my arm.

"I don't want to brag, but my tits look gorgeous in it! Have you got a prom dress yet?"

I unsuspectingly climbed up the ladder to my bunk, when the pause in which Alya didn't say anything more suggested a question

"Oh, I see, a dress? No, I haven't got one yet. I'll make sure I pass the exams first, then maybe I'll sew one myself."

Sighing, I let myself sink onto my bed. I actually wanted to study on my balcony, but I felt the urge to sit down.

"Everything okay with you? You seem a bit out of sorts."

I silently looked at the small written sheets in front of me on the wall and swallowed.

"I'm just under a bit of stress with all the studying I still have to do, that's all," I said and stood up again.

The exams were just two weeks away. Nothing is going to get me down anymore.

"I'm sorry about what you had to go through a few days ago. But you have to forget about Chat."

I had to swallow again as I walked out onto my balcony.

"Trust me, I'm done with Chat for good," I said firmly as I placed my notes on the small, round table.

"I'm really proud of you for drawing a line in the sand, Marinette," Alya said after a while.

I just chewed on my lower lip.

That sentence really meant a lot to me. Not only because I'd been mourning Adrien for a whole year just a short while ago and I was pretty serene today after what happened with Chat. But mainly because the words came from Alya.

For me, she was one of the strongest people ever. Breaking up with Nino after more than four years because you were no longer compatible showed greatness in admitting that and moving on separately.

Lost in thought, I sat down on the garden chair and scribbled geometric shapes on my college pad.

"One other thing. Juleka sent me some new information about the festival. It should actually work out that Luka can take us all with him. Man, it's going to be so cool on the Côte d'Azur. And you really don't want to go?"

I took a deep breath and looked out over the balcony area at the rooftops, which were almost blinding me from the hot sun.

"No, I'm sorry," I said wanly. "To be honest, I've had enough of guys and need some peace and quiet."

"But maybe it'll do you good to just meet new people there," came out of my earpiece, to which I just rolled my eyes, "I mean, no one says you have to shag with Luka."

I almost gasped at that. That's not what Alya just said.

Feverishly, I thought about how I could rail against it as I fixed one of my bux.

"Alya, really," I just burst out, as she really left me speechless.

Shaking my head, I looked at the plant as I suddenly paused.
