Eschaton - Tony Anderson

Marinette

Chat caught my gaze, which he only acknowledged with a shrug.

"So what? I have to reply Juliette."

Stunned, I watched him typing on his private cell phone.

"Are you insane?!" I bawled him out, tapping my forehead several times. "You know it could be used to track you! This is not safe!"

Chat just rolled his eyes in amusement, which only made me angrier.

"Listen, this is serious! All someone has to do is see you with your cell phone. If someone gets hold of it, your identity is at stake!"

I gesticulated wildly, but nothing, nothing at all helped me to convince him of his recklessness. Like I was talking to a wall.

The look of mock interest on his face only provoked me even more. As if our patrol was just a dull pastime.

"Calm the fuck down, Dotty. No one can hear us from down there. And I'm not leaving my cell phone here either."

He doesn't get it . He just doesn't get it. I was so upset I didn't even care about the nickname Dotty.

"What if there's a sudden attack? What will you do if..."

"You really need to relax, Ladybug."

Chat sighed audibly and looked up annoyed from the display. Amused, he started to speak, but paused briefly, probably choosing his words more wisely.

"Listen, without offending you in any way, but I'm sure a distraction would only benefit you."

My breath hitched halfway through. He hadn't just said that seriously.

I suddenly felt cold, but inside I felt uncomfortably hot. Chat was the second person to give me this advice. But unlike Alya, his tone was almost pitiful.

"I'm sure there are plenty of guys lining up to spoil you, so forget your made up worries for a second."

My stomach literally turned over.

Chat noticed how stiff I was sitting there. As if enlightenment had appeared to him, he raised his eyebrows in shock.

"Oh wait... no, you're not trying to tell me that you haven't had any experience yet?"

Stay calm, Marinette, I told myself repeatedly like a mantra.

I could feel myself starting to sweat, my back still tense against the wall. Suddenly, dark feelings came through to me that I had previously locked away in a box deep in my heart.

"Shut up, Chat," I replied caustically.

There was no need to respond. It was nobody's business. Especially not Chat's.

He rolled his eyes with a grin.

"Hey, no need to be ashamed if you're still a virgin. Although at almost eighteen, you're missing out a lot."

With every word that came out of his mouth, I fervently hoped it would be the last. Why was he going on? Didn't he realize he was totally out of line?

I could feel my hands beginning to tremble alarmingly. I guess I had to shut his mouth myself.

"Wow, Chat," I squeezed out, shaking my head and laughing bitterly. "And you think that's really all it's about?"

Convulsively, I tried to keep my voice calm, which I only partially succeeded in doing.
