Mili lay in bed, the remnants of her dream still clinging to her mind. "Please don't leave me. I can't live without you, please try to understand," she had begged in the dream, the pain of those words lingering even after she woke up. "Why am I suffering this pain? Why did he leave me alone? Why does he come back now? Can he answer these questions?"
She sat up, rubbing her eyes. "Oh, I forgot, I'm nothing to him. My thoughts, emotions, and feelings are meaningless. But now everything has changed. I'm not a fool anymore. Yes, I don't need anyone by my side. That's what he wanted, actually. Ishan will be very happy about it."
Mili sighed deeply, thinking, "Ishan, I want to tell you everything. How did I manage without you? I have so much to say! But I can't find you. I know you're here, but only in my dreams and memories."
The nights were the hardest, filled with thoughts of Ishan. "How can I explain to him?" she wondered. "But it's okay. It wasn't easy being without you, but I did it." Every night was spent thinking about him. "Oh, shit, I have to sleep. Me and my thoughts will remain unchanged forever. Yeah, I need to sleep."
The next morning, Mili woke up to the sound of her alarm. She made a cup of coffee and went to the balcony for some fresh air. As she sipped her coffee, she saw a familiar figure. "Wait, is that Ishan? Oh my god. Am I still dreaming? Okay, wait, I'm not dreaming. He is standing here. But why? Has he lost his mind? And why is he looking at me like that? Will he say anything or not?"
She braced herself as Ishan spoke. "Good morning," he said.
"Oh, my morning turned rubbish, and he says good morning. Nice, very nice," she thought, but replied out loud, "Yeah, good morning. What are you doing here? Are you jogging?"
Ishan shook his head. "No, I'm not. From today, I am your neighbor."
Mili was stunned. "He's my neighbor? But why, God, why?" she thought. With a dull smile, she replied, "Oh, that's great. When did you move in?"
"Last night. I bought the house a few months ago," Ishan replied.
"Oh, it was pre-planned," Mili realized. "What was the need to buy it? You could have stayed here on rent. It's less money."
Ishan smirked. "Who did you rent your brain to? Can't you ever think straight, silly girl?"
Mili felt her anger rising. "Why do I even try to be nice to people? They don't deserve it." She forced a smile. "Oh, I'm sorry, Ishan. Next time I'll remember."
"Are you sure you can remember anything?" he asked sarcastically.
"Mr. Ishan, I'm sorry. Now I have to go. Have a nice day."
"Okay, then see you in the evening. Bye, take care," Ishan said, dismissively.
Mili retreated to her room, fuming. "Who wants to see him? Such a heartless person. Also crazy and arrogant. What does he want now? Whatever, I can't think about him. I have my own studies."
"Mili, Mili, Mili, where are you?" Lily's voice interrupted her thoughts.
"What happened? Who died? Why are you shouting?" Mili answered.
"Listen, listen, I have very good news. Do you want to know?" Lily said excitedly.
Mili rolled her eyes. "Even if I don't want to know, you'll tell me anyway."
"A cool, handsome, dashing man has moved in next to us. How amazing!" Lily gushed.
Mili's head throbbed with anger. "Shut up, Lily. Don't tell me anything about him."
"What happened to you so early in the morning? Why is your mood so bad? Did something happen?" Lily asked, concerned.
"No, everything was fine until he came," Mili replied tersely.
"Why? What did he do to you?" Lily pressed.
"Nothing, but don't discuss him. He's so arrogant and rude," Mili snapped.
"How exciting! An angry young man. I like it," Lily teased.
"Shut up, Lily. Let's finish our breakfast," Mili said, trying to change the subject.
"Okay, cool, cool. Let's go," Lily agreed.
As they ate breakfast, Mili thought, "I really don't know how long I can avoid him. Yeah, as long as possible. I don't want him back in my life."
But deep down, she knew it wasn't going to be that simple. Ishan's presence was already stirring up old feelings and unresolved emotions, and she would have to confront them sooner or later. For now, she just hoped she could focus on her studies and not let the past interfere with her present.
