Chapter 10

LISA

Lisa woke up that morning like she has every other morning for the last four weeks—alone in Jennie's bed. The battle of the wills has been playing out since that memorable, hot night, and Lisa finds it utterly delicious.

Every evening, Jennie comes home for dinner and they eat and talk for hours. The CEO seems to like to listen to the Thai ramble on. Lisa told her about being in an orphanage when she was barely ten. How she went to the hospital when she was really sick with the flu, and how her grandfather just left her there—a threat he'd been making for two years after Lisa's parents died and they had to take young Lisa in. She tried to be the good granddaughter that they wanted, but in the end, she wasn't enough for them to want to keep her.

The Thai also told Jennie about how being an older kid in the orphanage makes it hard to get a permanent home, even if she tries to be what adopting parents want. It always seemed like Lisa was just getting shuffled off somewhere else. For the past few days Jennie has started to open up to Lisa. She knows the CEO lost both her parents and things weren't always great. The Korean works hard for everything she has, but Lisa can hear the hate Jennie has towards her father.

It seems each day the pretty Korean opens up more and more to Lisa, and her mind is consumed with ways to get Jennie to laugh. The first time Lisa heard Jennie laugh, the CEO came home early and caught the Thai singing and booty dancing in the kitchen to Cardi B. It wasn't her proudest moment, but she would have done it all night to make Jennie laugh again. It feels like the smiles and the laughs are coming easier and Jennie is just so fucking prettier when she's laughing, Lisa can't get enough.

She still spends her nights baiting Jennie to touch her willingly, but the CEO hasn't. Lisa can touch her all she wants but the Korean doesn't return the favor. Not that it hinders Lisa getting her O's. Surprisingly, Jennie has started telling her what to do. And that was more than enough to send Lisa to the edge. Last night when they went to bed Jennie made her strip all the way down naked, lay across the bed and masturbate while Jennie touched herself. Pulling herself from the bed, she goes through her normal routine. First thing is calling Lily, who she still hasn't heard from other than a couple of random 'I'm fine' texts but nothing more. Lisa feels guilty for not trying to locate her sister, but for once she just doesn't want to get wrapped up in Lily's mess. If the older woman needs her, she'll come, but until then Lisa is going to give Lily her space. At least she knows Lily has a place to stay. Lisa wanted to go pay the rent on the motel for the next few weeks but Jennie was adamant that she would have someone handle it. The Korean doesn't want her going down there. Lisa thought it was silly, but maybe Jennie is right. She also doesn't want to risk running into Dan.

Cleaning up from the previous night's dinner, she plans what she will make tonight and do some prep work for it. There isn't much more to do around there and when she informed Jennie of this, the Korean asked her what she would like to do. Lisa told Jennie she could do anything the CEO needed but her response was, "What do you want to do, Lisa?"

"Take photos," Lisa said. Something she hadn't done in a long time. Something that was only a luxury she would do when she was in school. The next day one of the spare rooms was filled with a high-end camera, film rolls and a contractor came in transforming part of the room as a dark room for Lisa's photography. At first, she just started taking photos of the cityscape from the rooftop of Jennie's building. Then she started taking more colorful subjects and a few shots, Jennie seems to like that she had it framed and started hanging them on the walls, adding color to the CEO's once-cold home. It doesn't seem so cold anymore. It makes Lisa feel like Jennie somehow wants her to be a part of the other woman's home. Like it is becoming Lisa's home, too.
