"Boys!" I cried, running over to them and giving each of them a hug, which they weakly but happily returned. They were beaten badly - they had black eyes and dried up blood coming from their noses and lips. "What happened to you guys?"
"That little, prissy, red-headed Soc and her disco derby, afro-haired brother beat us unconscious, kidnapped us, and locked us up in this dungeon." Dally spoke, referring to Cherry and Randy. I chuckled at Dally's description of Randy.
Heels clicked down the hall on the smooth yet hard concrete floor, the sound echoing off the hollow stone walls. The sound grew louder as the person drew closer with every step. The boys groaned, which made me assume they knew who was coming.
Cherry's face appeared on the other side of the bars, a delighted but mischievous smirk crossing it.
"Well, look who decided to show up. Glad you girls could join us." she said, scanning everyone in the dungeon cell to make sure no one somehow managed to escape.
I gripped the cold metal bars and studied her face. Her light green eyes were cold, mean, and full of hatred staring back at me. It was as if she was a different person; it was so unlike her.
"Why are you keeping us here?" I said through gritted teeth. She merely kept her smirk on her face.
"Oh, Dakota. It's best not to have an explanation. It'll only make matters worse for you." she replied. "I brought you guys some blankets and pillows for you to sleep with." she said, handing me a bundle of blankets and Kimi enough pillows for everyone. And without another word, she made her way back down the same hall she came from.
We tossed the pillows and blankets to everyone and settled ourselves on the floor. Dally laid on one side of me, Soda on the other.
"This is ridiculous. She can't keep us here." I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest. Dally chuckled.
"Sorry you're not getting your way, Princess, but life ain't fair like that. Besides, this ain't nothing compared to what I've had to deal with in jail, man." Dally said, turning to face me, which I did as well so we could carry on our conversation.
We were silent for a moment; I was too busy staring into his eyes, and he was too busy staring into mine. It was one of those cliche moments, I know, but I couldn't help it. I never noticed how dark brown his eyes were, probably because I never really payed attention. They were beautiful and anyone could get lost in them.
Before I knew it, Dally was leaning his head closer to mine. I knew what was coming next, but I didn't stop him. He pressed his lips against mine, making me feel warm inside. Fireworks were going off inside me - another cliche, I know. I kissed him back, instantly feeling sorry for Soda, who got a front row seat.
The kiss seemed to have lasted forever, which I wished it did, but we were interrupted by the gang whistling and cheering jokingly.
"Hey, Dal. Is Dakota your girlfriend?" Two-Bit teased, but Dally seemed to have taken him seriously.
"Well?" Dally said, raising his eyebrows. Was he really being serious?
"Dal, I don't think this is a good ti-" I began, but was cut off by Dally.
"Come on. You're the only girl I ever actually digged. I know you dig me, too, and I know you want to say 'yes'." he stated. I've denied my feelings for Dally before because I figured he didn't feel the same way, but now that I know he does, I decided it was time to face the truth.
"Okay. Yes, I'll be your girlfriend." I finally spoke, nodding my head. He smiled, slipped off his skull ring, and slid it onto my ring finger. I looked at it in confusion but didn't question it.
"Is this a bad time to say that Kimi's my girlfriend?" Ponyboy piped up.
"Or that Tiger's my girlfriend?" Johnny added.
I felt like everything was happening so fast - it seemed like it was just yesterday when I first arrived here. But if I hadn't have come to Tulsa and met the gang, my life would be boring. These guys were my best friends - my family - now, and it didn't matter what predicament we were in, as long as we were all together.
