Chapter 2
After about 15 minutes of walking, the of you approach Springville. Mona turns around and hesitantly takes your hands into her own. She lowers her head and goes on one knee, holding your hands above her head with a strong grip. Your bones audibly crack slightly at the pressure. You look at her with fear prevalent on your face as she speaks desperately, pleading with you.
"Your Majesty... I know you want to leave and see your family, but you can't leave me, the stars tell me if you come with me you'll be safe! No one will even need to know that you're here. If you leave me I don't know what I'll do! So please, stay with me so I don't have to make you!" She exclaims fervently, her grip tightening slightly. She looks up with large eyes and a small smile as if she were looking up to a god. Which to her, she is.
You look down at Mona with a pained and fearful look. You tear your hands from her grip and back away as Mona scrambles to her feet. You speak as you back away cautiously, your hands out in front of you in a protective manner.
"I-..." They pause for a second as they think about what they want to say, eyeing Mona to make sure she doesn't get too close for comfort. "I'm sorry, what?" They stumble backward slightly when Mona tries to get a little closer. "Make me stay? You're no better than the Knights of Favonius! You probably want to kill me too!" Their words stumble out quickly as they stare at Mona, a million possibilities of what she wants run through their head.
They take a few steps back when Mona tries to get closer again before taking off running. Mona follows behind just a few feet away, her cries for them to stay with her echo through the woods. It stays this way until they are finally able to lose her. They keep running until they make it to Dawn Winery. Mona's cries fade away as they hide in the vineyard
Sadly though, her cries alert the Dawn Winery staff, as they notice Y/N hiding out in the vineyard. After a couple of minutes of hiding, Y/N slowly stood up and looks around, trying to recall where they could be in Mondstadt. After a minute of thinking, they realize they are probably at Dawn Winery based off of the area. The vineyard is a lot bigger than in the game, with vibrant green leaves and bushels of rich purple grapes. The house loomed over them, much fancier than it had seemed in the game.
They admire their surroundings, captivated by the Dawn Winery's serene beauty when suddenly, they hear a cry of rage and feel a strong wave of heat on their back. They quickly turn around and stumble back when they see Diluc in his Dark Knight hero attire. Recognition flashes on their face as their mind runs through how they might die. Fear seizes their body as they think that one of their favorite characters is attacking them.
Their body stiffens as Diluc starts a short monologue, still catching their breath from running away from their once savior. They listen closely, thinking that maybe they'll be able to reason with him, but get ready to dash away anyway, just in case he really is planning on killing them
"Disgusting, trying to disgrace our dear god with such an ugly disguise. Scum like you don't deserve to live." Disgust laces his voice as he preps his claymore for another fiery attack. Y/N's eyes widen in fear and a sort of feeling of... betrayal? One of their favorite characters, reduced to mindlessly hating them just like the rest.
Y/N gulps in an almost comical way as they turn around and start running. Tears fill their eyes multiple times when Diluc almost hits them, but they somehow dodge his attacks by mere inches. They can feel a stinging sensation, but they don't know whether it is their heart or Diluc's relentless heat.
Eventually, when Diluc is preparing his firebird attack, they reach a large body of water. Knowing that if they don't get in and swim under, the attack will hit, so with almost no hesitation they run in and swim underwater, continuing to swim until they are forced to go up for air.
What do I have to lose?
Breaching the surface of the water they gasp for air, getting lightheaded from all the work they have had to do in the last hour. Looking back at the land, they see Diluc looking down his nose at them. He shoots them one last glare before turning around for his long walk back to Dawn Winery.
Breathing heavily, Y/N turns away from Mondstadt and starts swimming towards Liyue, hoping there is some sort of refuge for them there. They look back at their favorite region with a pained gaze, but they see a green figure in a tree smiling softly and playing a lyre. The breeze blows around him tenderly, making the leaves flutter like the wings of a butterfly.
Suddenly, they realize who it is, utterly dumbfounded. They recognize the figure as Venti. They immediately turn to swim away faster, thinking that he will just try and kill them like most other people they've come across until they hear a high-pitched voice in their ear, whispering gently.
"May the wind lead you to safety, Divine Creator."
They glance back when they hear this, but he disappears. The only thing proving Venti had been there was a small gust of wind and a flurry of dandelions. Their eyes, already puffy from so much crying, filled with grateful tears. They smile softly as they swim away.
Unbeknownst to Y/N, Venti had been watching them this whole time, from when they got kidnapped by the knights to when they almost got killed. The entire time, he was about to swoop in and be their knight in shining armor. The only thing stopping him was the Mona freeing them and them somehow avoiding all Diluc's attacks.
After about fifteen minutes of swimming, their arms grow sore and their eyelids start to droop. They look around for any semblance of dry land nearby, but they see nothing. They huff and keep swimming for a couple more minutes before they give in. Their eyes close and they let themselves sink, surrounded by the haunting comfort of their exhaustion.
A second later, they realize how stupid that was. Their eyes shoot open with renewed will as they struggle to muster up the energy to get back up to the surface. Their arms flail around, keeping them in place instead of sinking any more, but they can't seem to get up any further. Slowly, they pass out from the lack of oxygen. Bubbles leave their mouth, floating up for freedom.
Almost as soon as they pass out, a strong gust of water pushes them to the surface. Whatever it is that's helping them holds them above the water and brings them close to the shore.
Slowly, the currents push them to shore in Liyue, where their unconscious body is found. As soon as they were on land, a certain Adeptus noticed their presence. Bending down, he checks their pulse before scooping them up and teleporting away.
