I do not own The Dragon Prince. This just a fanfiction with the reader in it because I know there are people like me who wishes they were in the show.
Being hit by direct beams of light was not how you wanted to wake up. Sure, you hadn't seen the sun in a while but waking up to the uncomfortable, burning pressure on your face wasn't how you wished the reunion would be. You brought your hand up to your face to hide your eyes from the sunlight, groaning as the back of your hand came in contact with your warm eyelids.
The noise captured the attention of a certain someone that was sitting next to you. "Mornin' sleepyhead," said a familiar voice, "Glad you finally decided to wake up." Turning your head to the voice, you let your fingers part enough to see Rayla smirking at you. Dramatically, you let your hand fall back to your side and turned your back to her, "Five more minutes." You heard her sigh before you felt continuous poking between your shoulder blades, "Nuh-uh, get up. We've got a long journey ahead of us."
You made sure to sigh loudly as you slowly got up into a sitting position and stared at the elf, "Fine.." Looking around, you saw Callum sitting against a tree drawing in his sketch book, and Ezran still sleeping with Bait as his pillow. How come he gets to sleep in? So unfair.
"Callum. Callum.. Hey?" Turning your head, you noticed Rayla had gotten up and walked over to the boy. "That's your name, right, 'Callum'? Clem.. or was it Camel?" The prince looked up from his sketching, "It's Callum." As she sat down next to him, he continued, "I guess I was just distracted trying to draw this... prima-ball."
"Primal stone," Rayla corrected. "Right. It holds the pure essence of a primal spirit inside," he added. Deciding to join the conversation, you sat down in front of the two, "Primal source?", an amused expression on your face. The both of them looked at you and Callum nodded, "Right." Rayla sighed and faced him, "You do know what the Six Primal Sources are?" The teenage boy looked away, "Uh, if I say yes, are you gonna make me name them?"
You chuckled while Rayla groaned, signaling Callum to hand her the sketch book. After he did, she began drawing as she explained, "All magic in the world comes from the Primal Sources. They're the original and purest forms of magical energy." Scooting closer to Rayla's side so you could see, you watched as she pointed out each source, "The Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Earth, the Ocean, and.." she trailed off as she motioned to the Primal Stone Callum was holding, "The Sky.." he finished.
"Yes," She approved, "To cast a spell, a mage needs Primal Energy. So that wind breath spell you did? You'd usually need a storm or at least a strong breeze. But with that stone, you have all the power of the Sky, any time." Seeing it in presence had a much stronger power than through a screen. You could feel the force radiating from the sphere. "Wow.." Rayla continued, "Primal Stone are incredibly rare. They've been sought after by the most powerful arch-mages in history. And now, somehow you have one."
As she handed the book back to Callum, he stared at the drawing of the Six Primal Sources before realizing something, "Wait, I.. I've seen these before. At the Banther Lodge. There was this little cube thing and it had these exact symbols on it." Not knowing why it was such a big deal to the boy, Rayla only responded, "Uh, neat!" Getting up, Callum exclaimed, "What if it's magic? We have to go get it."
"Wait, what? We have real problems to worry about," Rayla argued, "Ending the war. Taking the egg to Xadia. Remember?" Callum looked at her, "Xadia's to the east, right? So is the lodge, it's on the way!" The elf deadpanned at the prince, "Oh, great. I'm sure it won't be crawling with humans. Humans that are looking for you and want to kill me! Yay!"
'The banther lodge! How could you forget? Where Callum thought they could retrieve the cube safely but no, because it's literally where they were supposed to go so of course there would be people. What are you gonna do? Should you tell them about Amaya? But would that change the course of the story? Maybe pretending not to know about future events is the better option..'
