Chapter 2

The road was like a War Zone, ten vehicles were smashed up, and people were trapped and badly injured behind Marion and Amy's truck.
They now had 15 Ambulances and Five Fire Engines, plus Rescue Unit's.
The RCMP was now looking into why the chase was allowed to continue, being as it was on a side mountain road with narrow two lanes.
A crane had been brought in to lift the truck off Marion's vehicle.
The rescue team then moved in to get Marion and Amy out.
Two hours later and Marion was out and in a helicopter on her way to the hospital, an hour later, and Amy was out and loaded into the next helicopter on her way to the hospital.
They were both stable but critical.

Tim Fleming was unconscious due to Alcohol. He was totally unaware that his wife and daughter were not home.
It had been 7 hours since they left to collect the horse, Tim Fleming was brought round from his stupor at 2am. He was getting annoyed as the banging didn't stop. He opened the door, ready to give them an earful or more, and came face to face with two large RCMP Officers.
They could tell he was worse for wear on alcohol.
" Are you Mr Timothy Fleming."
"Yes, what do you want."
"We've called about your wife and daughter."
"Oh, there probably asleep, do you need to speak to them."
"Mr Fleming,  your wife and daughter have been critically injured in an RTA last night, as have a number of other people. There all at Toronto General."
"Oh god, I'll get over there straight away."
"How will you get there."
"My truck."
"Oh no, you won't, I can smell the booze on you, sir."
"Well, how do I get there then."
"Taxi, or a friend,  if you drive, you may end up in hospital with your family, we will be watching you, Mr Fleming, goodnight, sir."
Tim's brain was still pickled, and he sat down trying to make sense of what he'd been told. Then, out of habit, he opened another bottle of spirits and started drinking.
The RCMP was parked on the road waiting to see if Tim Fleming drove past them. After an hour, they gave up and drove off. Tim was passed out again.

"Doctor Winters, can you update me on the condition of the mother and daughter brought in a few hours ago, err, there names Fleming."
"Yes, of course." He walked over to the nurse's station to find the folders and looked through them both.
"Okay, the mother is suffering from a bad concussion, a broken leg, and broken left arm. She also has some bruising to her neck due to the truck landing on top of them.
The daughter took more of the impact as her airbag didn't activate. The impact broke both of her legs, broke her jaw and neck, and she had a bad concussion with a bleed on the brain. She's actually going back up to surgery now, I'm surprised she's still alive, to be honest."
"I  agree with you there, doc. Thank you. When do you think the mother will wake up."
"Mrs Fleming is in a medically induced Coma for now, so I have no idea when her consultant will wake her up. Sorry."

It was another day until Tim Fleming was sober to be able to drive to the hospital. He was sat by Marions bed, but Amy was in an intensive care and trauma unit as she was in a coma due to the concussion and the brain bleeding.
Tim couldn't believe what had happened and was watching the TV News segment. They were talking about the car chase and why it wasn't called off, even showing the video footage from the News Helicopter, Fifteen people were injured
Including Amy and Marion.
Then Tim Fleming was really interested when he caught the words of compensation due to Police recklessness.
After he left the hospital, he went straight to the police station asking about compensation for his wife and daughter.
Tim Fleming did not like the answer he got. He couldn't claim, only his wife and daughter could as they were still alive.
In the true typical Tim Fleming way, he went drinking and gambling,  telling people he had a big payday coming to him once his wife had recovered from her injuries.
Certain people took note and decided to keep an eye on him.

The school Amy went to was a brilliant place, and she was doing really well. The police had been to see the principal, and this morning, there were signs on every classroom door sending the pupils to the schools Auditorium.
Everyone was sat there waiting for the principal to start and tell them what's going on.
All the pupils knew Amy Fleming,  she was a fantastic person and a brilliant Showjumper and Barrel Racer.
"Okay, everyone put your phones away, please. I have some sad news that you all need to hear, some more than others ."
"Most if not all of you know personally or just by name Amy Fleming. "
All those who knew Amy well were now worried and scared what the news was going to be.
"I think it fair to say that everyone heard about the 18 vehicle pile up.
Unfortunately, the truck that was hit head-on by the truck being chased was Marion and Amy Flemings.
Their injuries are critical, but only Amy's is life threatening,  they are both stable at the moment, Amy is in a coma due to head and brain injuries, she also has two broken legs, a broken neck and jaw, and her mother Marion has been put into a medically induced Coma.
At the back of the hall, there are cards and envelopes, so you can send get well wishes, outside is a place for candles ect, and we have a place where you can pray for a quick recovery .
Amy's friends were all together after they left the hall when someone walked over to them to show them a YouTube video of dashcam footage of the impact.

Tim Fleming was a mess, but at the back of his mind, he was thinking about money.
