Chapter 3

A few days later, Marion wakes up, and the first thing she asks the doctor is, "Is my daughter Amy still alive?""
Doctor Winters sat with Marion and explained her injuries, then told her about Amy's.
"If you look over there on the other side of the ward, Amy's the third bed along coming towards you."
Marion looked over and saw that a nurse had gone over and stood by Amy's bed.
"Oh god, she looks so bad. Will she be alright, doctor!."
"Time will tell Mrs Fleming, we'll get you moved over so your beds next to hers."
"Thank you."

Lou was at work when she got a message from her ex boyfriend Scott, she opened it and saw a YouTube link with the message "your Mum and Amy are in the truck underneath, both in ICU, Amy in Coma, all the cars n trucks behind them ploughed into the trailer, sadly the horse died".
Lou watched it and saw it happen. She brought her hand up to her mouth to quieten her scream out of the shock. It didn't go unnoticed, and her friends ran over to her. They were horrified when they saw what happened.
Her boss said she could go home to see her family due to the circumstances, but Lou declined the offer.

Later that afternoon, Tim turned up, but not completely sober. At least he wasn't drunk. He sat in the chair by the side of Marion and started talking, asking how she was, etc. Marion let him talk, and then he started going on about compensation, which she knew was coming, She knew Tim so well.
"Back in a minute. "
Tim got up and went to the gents just down the corridor from the ward. He was gone for ages. Eventually, he came back and sat down. Marion could smell the alcohol on him.
"Tim, you haven't asked about Amy."
"Oh yeah, the doc said she'd be okay."
Marion noticed the slight slur in his speech, which meant he'd been drinking again, and she thought  he'd probably took something, Marion wasn't sure where he'd stashed it, probably in the gents somewhere.
"Look to your left Tim, does she look okay to you, well does she."
"Is - Is that Amy."
"Yes, it is."
"Oh my god, I didn't think she was so badly hurt, Marion , is she going to be okay."
"Tim, the impact broke both of her legs, broke her jaw and her neck, and she had a bad concussion with a bleed on the brain, I have no idea if she has any feelings or movements below her neck. No, I do not think she is going to be okay tim."
"I will make sure those idiots pay up for not stopping the chase."
"Tim, I will make them pay, and that will be for her and myself, NOT Yours, you just want it for gambling."
"She won't need millions, look at her, what's she going to spend it on, a mirror on the ceiling so she can talk to herself, come ooonnnn."
"How dare you say that about our daughter, the doctors do not know yet.
Marion slapped Tim around the face for what he said, even the nurses heard, then Tim punched Marion in the face, making her nose bleed, then they saw Marion get hit again , Tim pulled Amy's oxygen pipe off her face, and then he pulled out her cannula.
"I will not let her lay there a vegetable. She's better off dead." The security guards arrived just in time as he went for the neck brace even though a nurse had thrown herself in front of Amy.
They found a bottle of bourbon stashed in the waste bin of the toilet .

"Are you alright, Mrs Fleming."
"Yes, thank you, Doctor Winters . What about Amy."
"Well, she was very lucky that her father, if I could honestly call him that never got to the neck brace. He would have either killed her or left her in a wheelchair."

4 Weeks Later

Marion kissed Amy on her forehead and then spoke into her ear, " Wake up, Amy, please wake up."
Marion sat in the wheelchair and the nurse's took her to the taxi to take her home. Thankfully, her friends had been taking care of her horses. It was just as well, as they would have starved to death if it had been left up to Tim.

Back at school, the principal explained to everyone in the main hall that Amy was still in a Coma, when she finally wakes up, then visits could be arranged for those close to her.
Marion was in touch with the principal and suggested that her close friends could visit as she needed stimulation to help wake her up, and her friends' voices may just do that.

Marion was improving by the week, it had now been over 6 weeks since the accident, and she was due at the hospital for an X-ray on her broken bones. Marion was hoping her cast could come off at the end of the week, making it 7 weeks.
Tim was of no help whatsoever, Marion refused to even try and cook, having a broken leg and a broken arm, but things like that didn't even enter Tim's brain.
He walked out, stinking of booze, and went to the local diner for his evening meal. He never even thought to take Marion with him.
Marion had a better idea and picked up the phone, ordering herself a large, mighty meaty pizza to be delivered.
She hobbled over to the kitchen and made herself a hot chocolate, then sat on the sofa and waited.

About 6pm Amy received some visitors, her Great Grandparents on her mother's side, but it couldn't be them could it, Amy thought that maybe she had died in the crash and they had come for her.
"Don't be so alarmed, young Amy, you're still in the land of the living. You look so much like my daughter Lyndy and my granddaughter Marion, doesn't she love. "Yes, she does Lucy, so much like her."
Amy love, you will survive this, but the things you have coming your way will not be easy, rely on your mother for advice and for strength you will have your soul mate who you have yet to meet. He will love you with his whole heart, just as you will love him, he will protect you without exception and be ready to give his life to protect you, all of your life. Of course, he won't be perfect to start with. You will have to forgive him at least once, but his heart will always belong to you, so remember that Amy.
Beware of someone very close to you, as he has a black heart, he will use you Amy, for his own greed. Don't give up, though, your Knight in shining armour is on his way to meet you.
(Amy could hear voices she recognized, friends from school)
Now is the time, Amy. we love you, now WAKE UP."

Amy's friends were talking to her and laughing while holding her hands when they saw her bright sapphire blue eye's looking at them. They were brighter than they have ever been. They were laughing and crying, one went to get a nurse.
