Part 7, Chapter 2

"Not Again Pt. 2"

"나한테 고통만 주고 싶은 거야, 장준야?" (Do you only wish to cause me pain, Jangjun ya ?) The question that caught me off guard. How am I causing any pain ? I scoffed as I answered him, "Causing you pain ? I am not causing you pain, Jin-Sang. I know what you're about to do is wrong."

Jin-Sang chuckled as he pointed at me from were he sat up top of his desk. He seemed amused somewhat, but his eyes held a certain disdain that I knew was specifically for me. Entirely for me... "You think what you've done will stop me ? It won't, Jangjun. All you've done is buy yourself some time. There is much you don't know..."

I rolled my eyes. What didn't I understand ? I knew what kind of person Park Jin-Sang was. He made the gods reborn & technological advances stemmed from his company has impacted Olympia' citizens nationwide. Now he wanted to enlist children as soldiers for the gods. 

"당신은 정말로 나쁜 놈입니다. 부끄럽지도 않나요? 어쨌든 왜 아이들을 입대시킬 필요가 있었나요?" (You really are a bastard. Do you not feel ashamed ? Why did you need to enlist children anyway ?), I asked this fully prepared for an answer that wouldn't explain anything. I guess he'd say anything to get me to see reason. "Isn't it obvious, Jangjun ? These children will be loyal soldiers. They aren't being forced. They have every right to leave just as I have given you that option before."

I couldn't believe it. Did he think this was all I needed hear ? He was trying to play off of my sympathy, "Those children were bought. They are nothing but pawns to you. Just like I am your pawn & the others are you reborn godly pawns. There is no humanity in you yet..."

Jin-Sang seemed shocked & offended as he swiftly smacked me. Blood trickled from my mouth lightly as I spat out some blood from where I sat restrained. "경고했잖아, 장준아..." (I warned you, Jangjun...) This was all he said as the door opened & in walked someone I never would've guessed. The very last person I would've suspected. 

Jin-Sang bowed to the woman who took a seat at his desk, moving to stand behind her on the right side. "What is this ?", I asked as the woman finally looked at me. She seemed rather annoyed that she had to come in at all. The woman' dark eyes filled with what only I'd call a flame as she answered me. "You would've been a prefect Hermes, Jangjun. It is a shame you ended up a failure like your older brother, Yujin. No ?"

I spat out more blood as I lashed out. How dare she speak about my brother in such a way ? My brother has done nothing wrong here. Jin-Sang has. "My brother has nothing to do with this. Keep his name out of your mouth. What kind of person continually enslaves children for a program in order to ensure loyalty ?"

The woman laughed as she answered me once more. Dr. Lee stood as she slammed a hand down on the desk. A manically insane look covering her face as she yelled, "IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HIM !" Jin-Sang cut on the tv in his office as the national news was on. Yujin hyung was on as he exposed everything I had told him. Dr. Lee was not mentioned, but Jin-Sang' name was being ridiculed. The company' stock was lowering as Yujin expose everything. 

That is when I saw them. They were among the crowd of citizens that was angry. The crowd of citizens that are now seeing S.Y.N.D.I.C.A.T.E' true colors. That they'd do anything for power... "Why ? Why is Jimin & Taehyung hyung in the crowd ?" I was shocked I didn't get an answer as Dr. Lee made her final order.

It was quick & painless. I watched as on national tv my brother' body hit the ground with two arrows embedded in him. Screams were heard as people ran for cover. The fear that more arrows would be fired was at an a high. My friends killed my brother... "무슨 짓을 한 겁니까? 안 돼요!" (WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ? NO !), I screamed as I looked away from the tv. Dr. Lee held me by the chin & forced me to look at her. "You will have to live with this, Jangjun ya. Let this be a lesson that I spared your life once again..."

I didn't get to respond as I was dragged off. I was put in a cage when Lady Nam approached me. She seemed odd. I could sense there was something different about her since our last encounter. "장준야, 사람은 언제 살아남는 법을 배우니? 사람은 놓아주었어야 할 사람들을 구할 수 없다는 것을 깨달을 때가 언제입니까?" (When does a man learn to survive, Jangjun ya ? When does a man realize he can't save those who he should've let go of ?)

Her question was simple, but dark. She was making a slight mockery of Yujin hyung' abrupt death... I remained quiet as the tears flowed from my eyes. 

Was this the end I never thought would happen ? Did I cause my brother' death because I can't afford to be naive anymore ? My mind was swirling with questions...
