Part 6, Chapter 3

"Only Athena Remains"

This was the third sanctuary visit by far. This one was for Athena, or otherwise Jin hyung. The EBPs effects were strong. Given the nature of the last two visits I have had. This sanctuary was more monotone as it took on a sleek grey coloring. Citrus trees & tiger lilies were scattered everywhere. The overall scent overtaking the place was cinnamon.

Star shaped sapphires & lapis lazuli stones were embedded in the floors to add that touch of royal blue. A few signature symbols were apparent as well. Aegis shield replicas were just as scattered around & snakes could be seen slithering about. I cautiously made my way in only to immediately be greeted with the sight of Jin hyung tending to some doves. 

"어서 오십시오, 장준야. 제우스가 당신이 온다는 것을 알려줬습니다." (Welcome, Jangjun ya. Zeus had informed me you were coming.) Zeus ? Have they already began referring to each other with their godly names ? "I needed to speak with all of you. Do you know anything about the Ahjussi making child armies ?" I could see Jin hyung pause as he turned to face me. He looked a bit conflicted to tell me anything & was weighing his options.

"I know that is true. Armies are being made for the gods. Does this bother you ?" Luckily, Jin hyung seemed calmer than Jungkook & Hoseok hyung combined. "It doesn't bother you ? You are enslaving children to be your warriors..." Jin sighed as he took a seat & the doves he tended to flew off to other parts of his sanctuary. 

"군대에 있는 아이들은 단지 훈련을 받고 있을 뿐입니다. 어떻게 그게 잘못된 것인지 모르겠어요. 아이들의 부모들은 아이들에게 이런 것을 허락하는 것이 위험하다는 것을 알고 있습니다..." (The children in the army are just going through training. I don't see how there is anything wrong with it. Their parents are aware of the risk of allowing this of their children...) I understood he wasn't entirely wrong. Training wasn't the issue, but even letting Jin-Sang do this was the problem. Why did they need armies anyway ? What was the point ?

"Do you just not have a heart anymore ? No matter the gain you'd be making children do your bidding, hyung. Does that not bother you at all ?" Jin sighed again as he rested a hand on my shoulder, "I don't need to worry myself over the small things. My intellect never faults me in my time of need. So why do you think war training requires the heart as a driving motivation ?"

I was quiet a few moments before I answered him. "What else is supposed to motivate you then ? I understand war is very strategic, but children shouldn't be used as weapons in this case..." Once I said my piece I headed straight for the sanctuary of Hephaestus.
