Dally's POV: It was really late. Like 10 p.m., so I was gonna get home, check on Scarlet, and go to sleep. "Guys, I'm leaving." I announced. "I'll check on Scarlet when I get home."If she's not there, then come right back, and we will help you find her." Sodapop said. I could see Johnny tense up at that, and Pony looked up at Soda with a worried look. "I'm sure she'll be fine." I said. Then I set on my way home. I got there after about twenty minutes and knocked on Scarlets' door. No one answered. I knocked again. Again, there is no answer. That kind of worried me because I was knocking really loud. Then, I just went for it and picked the lock, and sure enough, she wasn't there. I ran back to the curtis house, and everyone was still there. "She's not there." I shouted out of breath. Then fast and furious, Darry stepped up and said in a stern voice, "Dally, Johnny, Pony, go to the lot. Steve, Soda, search close to Buck's. And Two-bit and I are going to the drive-in. If nobody finds her, we will all be back here at eleventhirty pm sharp." Then we all left. After running for a while, we got to the vacant lot.
Johnny's POV:
We were at the lot searching when I saw a limp body, lying, almost lifeless on the ground. "Uh, Dally?" I said with a shaking voice, "You might want to see this." They both came running, and both saw the unconscious Scarlet Jay Winston. She was covered in cuts and bruises, and wounds, which were still shedding blood. Dally shook her a bit, and after a few seconds, she shot up and started coughing up some liquid. Looked like water. Maybe they tried to drown her. "Did they try to drown her?" Dally kind of asked us, although he knew we didn't have an answer. Then Pony spoke up. "Dallas, that's not water. It's blood." He said, looking horrified. Oh shit.
