Scarlets POV:
I heard a knock on my door. "Who is it?" I asked, kind of nervous that it could be one of the socs from two days ago. Goddammit, why couldn't I be more tough. "It's Pony and Johnny." A familiar voice said. We were gonna go to the drive-in today and hang out at the lot and maybe visit Soda and Steve at the DX where they work. "I'm coming!" I said, opening the door and letting them in. "You look nice." Pony said, and Johnny agreed, which made me blush and whisper a little thank you. I was wearing a pair of high-rise skinny jeans, a black T-shirt and a leather jacket. I always wore something with long sleeves to cover up the cuts on my arms. The ones that I made. Then we left the house. It was a bit cold outside, so it wasn't weird that I was wearing long sleeves. We were at the lot, chatting when Pony suggested we go to the DX. When we got there, we were greeted by Steve and Sodapop, who bought us drinks. They were very kind. Then Sodapop called me over and said that Dally had left something for me. It was a book! To kill a mockingbird. I was so excited that I thanked him like a million times. He just chuckled a little and gave me a hug, which I returned. We hung out there for a bit longer. The boys asked me questions about New York and how I was feeling after the beating I got from the socs and how i was so good at cards. Apparently, it was the same socs that gave Johnny that scar on his face.
Ponyboy's pov:
Scarlet seemed to be kind of happy at the DX. She wasn't very calm. She never was. She was always a bit tense. And watching her back and you could tell that she was always a bit nervous and scared. She seemed really happy with the book that dally got her, though. I was happy that she liked it, because I was the one who told Dally to buy it. He's so goddamn stupid. I don't know how they are siblings. Dally is, though,  he is not scared of anything and long of rude. But Scarlet. She's got a heart of gold.
