A quick update for Chapter 27: For some odd reason, Wattpad cut this chapter in half. I re-edited it. You may have to read the other chapters to understand this one more. Sorry for the inconvenience. It's been too long until I noticed this.

"We'll take him with us," Peterson mumbled.

"What?" I gasped. "What are you saying?"

"We traveled here through a forest full of beasts. The savage can control them, can't he?"

"You can't just—"

"If he doesn't comply, then there is no use keeping him alive."

"Okay, wait!" I massaged the sides of my head. "Where are you trying to go? What is your plan?"

"We came here in search of you two. What do you think is our plan? We'll take you to the nearest town, and find a ship to go back home. Jacky here, is familiar with this place."

"You found a town? An actual town? With people?" I gasped.

"You would've too, if not for the bloody savage leading you away from it. There's a long story about these manbeasts." James pressed his lips together.

"We're losing daylight. We should be on our way now." Jack sighed.

"We can't take Yuxuan away from his people."

"Oh bloody give it a rest will you, Alexandrea! We'll let the lad go when we get there. I'm sure he can find his way back at night."

"Are you promising to release him when we go there?" I raised a brow.

"We just need him to control the wild animals until we get back safely."

I stared at him for a bit, trying to identify any underlying meaning, before deciding to agree with him. "Fine. As long as you let him free as soon as we reach. Lead the way."

"How about we let the lad go first?" Peterson tightened his grasp on the shotgun. Yuxuan exchanged looks with him. Their eyes locked, as if they were challenging each other.

"Mr. Brinly, do you mind starting us off in the right direction?" I cleared my throat, not wanting there to be any more issues than there already were between the men.

Peterson's shoulders were stiff, and James was next to him. Although they stood proud, it was clear they were very anxious about Yuxuan's next move.

Yuxuan, on the other hand, glared at the two like he wanted to snatch off their heads. I wouldn't be surprised if he did. I knew he was holding back his strength.

"Seems like I've no choice." Jack sighed and stepped forward.

And so we started on our journey toward whatever town from where they came.

I felt like all my prayers had been answered.

Finally, a place full of people away from a forest. Hopefully, I will be able to change into some new clothes. I felt overly exposed, although my chest and bum were covered.

Perhaps there were warm beds and baths? I needed a bath in hot soapy water. I missed the feeling.

I began to think about my home. I'd get to see my father and mother and hold them tight in my arms again. I wanted to apologize to my father. I wanted to tell him that he was right.

And then I could tell him about my wonderful discoveries. Hansel's research would be the talk of the town! It would be historical!

All of my friends would be green with envy once they would hear about my name being published on a paper alongside a Zoologist, as his assistant.
