THE OFFICIAL TITLE OF THIS BOOK IS "GOOD MORNING"

It was around 6AM and a woman in a black apron ran through the cold, rainy city of Queens NewYork. Shivering and muttering under her breath,

"Shit, Shit, Shit, Shit, Shit!" The woman ducked under the roof of a small closed coffee shop and pushed the glass door open. As she stepped inside a familiar voice called out–

"Good morning Carmie!" A second woman smirked from behind the counter, holding a coffee in her hand.

A man next to her laughed quietly, "you look like a wet rat..." He chuckled, leaning his head on his hand.

Carmen sighed, "Good morning Effie, Luke... Why get a coffee when I'm handed this fresh brew of insults." She walked towards the counter and stepped behind it.

"I made you a coffee, you know the drill." She turned her head to voice, and saw the woman who was talking to her earlier. Her name is Effie, and you could say she is Carmen's best friend. Effie is very... What's the word, extroverted, prideful? Carmen swears she doesn't experience shame.

"Why do I always have to be at the register..?" She groaned, slumping and snatching the coffee. Effie raised a brow,

"You know why." She explained, turning her back on me. Carmen sighed extra loud, making sure she heard her.

"I think you'll live." Luke piped in, leaning on the doorframe with his arms folded.
"Shut up." Carmen huffed, Luke was about to retort when he heard a clapping sound.

"Alright guys!" A voice called out, followed by footsteps. "Off your phones, we are opening." The boss cheered, "Carmen!" He looked at her,

"Yea, I know." She grumbled, sliding on a black cap. He nodded and flipped the sign on the door so it said 'open' and then walked back into his office.

The doors had been propped open and a few customers were making their way in.

'Agh... Please, please just leave.. Just turn around... Please..'

"Welcome to The Coffee Corner, how are you doing today?" She smiled warmly as the customer stepped up to the counter.

The woman smiled at her.

"I'm good, how has your day been, lovely?" She was definitely friendly.

"My days been fine, thank you! And what can I get for you?" Carmen asked, keeping up the bubbly smile plastered on her face.

'Lovely?' she thought.

"I'll have a Caramel frappuccino with extra whipped cream, please." The woman leaned back on her heels and put her hands on her hips. still smirking at her.. Carmen nodded and searched the drink on the small screen in front of her,

"Great choice! If I may, I would make a suggestion. Our strawberry croissant would go perfect with your drink!"

"I think I'll have to pass on that, darling. Maybe next time?" The woman hummed,

"Alright then, that'll be $9.87, will you be using cash or card?"

"Cash, thank you." She stated, handing me the bill. I grabbed it and gave her .13 Cents change.

"Okay, and can I get a name for that order?" Carmen questioned, holding a sharpie to a small plastic cup.

She paused for a moment, "Abigail.." The woman put her hands in her pockets, She nodded, noticing the hesitance in the woman's words but not mentioning it and writing down her name.

"Ok, your drink should be finished shortly." Carmen hummed, setting the cup down.

"Thank you princess~" she winked and sat down at a small table to wait for her drink. Carmen was properly flustered at the nickname, and felt a small tap on her shoulder.

"Well she seems fun~!" Effie joked from behind her, Luke popped his head out from over her shoulder.

"Aw~ are you flustered?" He grinned cheekily, She glared at them.

"You're both insufferable...." Carmen muttered, her face heating up as she

turned away from them and greeted the next customer.

— 5 hours later —

"Nice, anyways I gotta get back to my dorm, I've got a shit ton of homework to do..." Carm sighed, grabbing her coat and waving to Effie.

"I got some stuff to do as well, You want me to drive you?" She questioned, grabbing her own fluffy jacket from the coat rack.

"Don't worry I dont need a ride, thanks for asking." Luke said sarcastically from the other side of the room. Carm glanced at him.

"Who are you again?" she tilted her head,

"Oh ok, I see how it is." He huffed, folding his arms.

A/N: Boring first chapter. I know. It's also shorter than I wanted it to be, but its just an intro 👍
