A gunshot went off in the alleyway next to them, the hero kept the laptop in her arms and jumped off the balcony. The villain jumped from balcony to balcony, eventually landing on the cement and tackling Carmen.
"Ah!-" She gasped, eyes locked on whatever was in the alleyway. Quinn snatched the tech from her frozen hands, looking wherever the hero was staring at.
"Oh my god..." The hero pushed her off and rushed out to the smaller looking person lying on the ground.
"Wait no, don't just run in there you moron!" The villain whispered, scanning for anyone else around them. But the alleyway was empty, not a soul in sight at this hour.
Carmen stood still, eyes wide. Quinn strolled carefree towards her, recognizing the body of a... Little.. Boy..
"Chayanne..?" The hero mumbled, covering her mouth. A red rose lies next to him, catching Quinn's attention.
"Wait-" The villain gaze stuck on the flower laying solemnly in the poor boy's hand. "Thats-" she stopped herself, looking away.
Carmen had crouched down next to the kid, glancing at the rose. "What." The hero was wide eyed, she just shook her head, avoiding eye contact.
"Its nothing-"
She grabbed her wrist, "What does it mean." And holy shit if looks could kill...The villain felt like she should be scared... What exactly was this woman..?
"It-it's a... a symbol..." She hesitantly mumbled, trying to shake out of the hero's grip. Mostly failing.
"What- who- who? What? " Carmen looked around frantically, letting go of her.
"God, you've got quite the grip..." Quinn grumbled, rubbing her wrist. She crouched down and tilted the kids head, a bullet wound in the center of his forehead.
"Answer the question." Carm glared, turning back around to face her.
"Sorry, was that a question? It sounded like a whole bunch a nothing." She breathed out, glancing at the hero. She just stared, "Eugh... Fine. His name is Miserio. He's a well known mob boss..."
"And he did..." She trailed off, gazing at the dead body of the child. Quinn nodded, looking away again. "What- why...?"
"if not him, one of his goons... That's just what he does," Quinn sighed, glaring at the blood red rose. She was holding something back, but the hero was too caught up to realize.
"What do you mean that's just what he does!?"
"Hey- quiet down." she whispered, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back inside the building.
"Mh- no! stop- we cant- we can't just leave him!" Carmen called out, reaching towards the limp body.
"We have to. There's nothing we can do.." She stopped, thinking for a moment. Glancing back at Carmen for a moment she seemed to have come to a decision. "Come with me."
"Excuse me?- Agh- What are you thinking!-" She retaliated for a moment before allowing herself to get dragged along.
"There might be something we can do." Quinn whispered, pulling them into the elevator. Upon hearing this Carmen kept her mouth shut.
"You have no idea what you're digging into, just walk away hero..." She thought of those words, is this what Quinn was talking about back then? It felt so long ago...
"I am searching for someone, Miserio is what everyone calls him. He has moles everywhere, all around New York." She paused, taking a breath. "I was trying to find one of his rats and get the location from one of their dreams.. But then you stepped in." Quinn spat with a bit of anger.
"Okay... And why am I supposed to believe you?"
"Why would I lie? This isn't a movie, I'm not an idiot," The villain muttered, leaning back and grabbing the laptop. "To be honest from what I've seen, you might agree with me."
She opened up the device and started typing, then flipped it around to reveal multiple murders, pictures of red roses, and what seems to be the man himself.
"Who- uh... Who is this guy?" Carmen gasped, reading an article.
"I told you- ugh.. How do I explain this to you..." She paused for a moment.
"No- I get it. Miserio.. Misery.. I got it. Just- keep explaining..." Carmen sighed, folding her arms as the elevator opened and they stepped out.
"Anyway, I found out that he owns a fight club somewhere in New york. I just don't know where.." Quinn hummed, unlocking her door and stepping inside.
Carmen thought for a moment. Her mind flashing back to Chayanne...
"Do whatever you have to do."
Quinn continued, "I understand if you're still iffy but- huh?" They made eye contact, "oh.." A small smile creeped on her face.
"So.. Keep me posted, please." Carmen whispered, taking a few steps back. The villain smirked,
"Can I get your number?" She tilted her head teasingly. The hero's face reddened,
"Wah- hah- I don't und-"
"Just to communicate. Yknow." She raised a brow, barely holding back a laugh.
Carmen fidgeted, "Ah, yea- yea of course. Haha..." She trailed off, pulling out her phone.
"Thanks love~" She teased, easily getting a reaction out of the shorter.
"I-.. Whatever. Im- im tired, so I'm gonna go." She grumbled, walking towards the door and pulling her mask back up.
"Aw~ you won't even stay the night?"
"In your dreams.."
"Damn right it is.""Oh my god, you're the worst..."
"I'll miss you too!"
*SLAM*
Once Carmen had gotten back to her apartment building, she climbed into the window and collapsed onto the floor. Overwhelmed and tired.
Memories of the night flashed back, Quinn... Chayanne- good thing it wasn't her first time seeing something like that... And who is this Miserio guy?
