It had been maybe a week or so since her first criminal, and the internet was going insane with questions. Trying to figure out her identity and her powers, wondering where she came from. (Some even believed it was all staged...)
Of course Carmen was doing her best trying to act oblivious about the whole incident. Effie smiling and giggling about it didn't help either.
Our hero hoped that that would be the last time she ever had to do something like that. But her story can't end here, I need to entertain my readers don't I?
And so...
"Hey my favorite barista~" A familiar voice hummed from the other side of the counter, causing Carmen to turn around.
"Ah- hey Abigail..." Carmen replied quietly, walking up to her. She was still getting used to the nicknames.
Abigail chuckled, and leaned on the counter, a small smirk on her face. "Don't act so excited." She said sarcastically, "How are you darling?"
She smiled, "I'm doing just fine, thank you." Carm nodded. "How's Chayyane doing?" She asked, tilting her head slightly.
"He left with his dog this morning. I made sure he had food and water with him." Abigail smiled, nodding.
Carmen glanced at the clock, "You're a little early today, something happening?"
"Ah... I have some things planned soon. Gotta get my morning coffee a little early." Abigail tilted her head, maintaining eye contact. "I'll get the-."
"Caramel Frappuccino, Carmen chuckled, looking down at the screen and typing in the order.
"How could I forget?" The hero smiled softly, "It should be out in a minute, that'll be-""$9.87, cash as always." Abigail took her hand and placed a ten dollar bill in Carmen's palm. Bringing her hand up to her lips and kissing it lightly.
Carmen was immediately flustered, seemingly frozen in time, her face dusted with a pink hue.
"I-I um, tha-anks- or uh, sorry. I mean- mmmh.." Carmen stuttered, turning her head away in embarrassment.
Abigail laughed quietly, letting go of the barista's hand. She looked at her for a moment, "I'll be waiting." She grinned, Carmen pulled her hand away and avoided eye contact.
"You guys already act like a couple," Effie whispered from behind her, causing Carmen to twitch.
"Gross..." Luke stuck out his tongue,
"Shut up..." Carmen grumbled, holding her arms.
— After their shift —
"Good morning Carmie! I've got your suit ready~" Effie hummed, holding up a cardboard box as she pushed through Carmen's door.
"Yes of course, come on in." She said sarcastically, closing the door behind her. "Luke didn't wanna come?" Carmen questioned, following Effie to her couch.
"Nah, he had to cover Roan's shift." Effie boredly replied, pulling out a black suit with purple accents. She looked it over and smiled widely.
"That's it?"
"That's it? Excuse me. I had to beg Luke to help make this, you know." She glared. "Put it on."
"Oh yea, I can imagine." She did as asked, putting the suit on.
It was flexible, almost like it shrunk down to her size. It had a leathery look with some pockets here and there, dark purple lining the indented outlines on the suit. There were simple leather black fingerless gloves connected to the sleeves, with a mask and hood attached to the neck.
