In the Ravenclaw common room you, Luna, and Amit huddle around a large oak table filled with potion ingredients, textbooks, and parchment. The fireplace crackles behind you, illuminating the papers before you. With only an hour left before your potions exam, the air is filled with a mix of concentration and nerves.

Luna, with an ever-dreamy expression, flips through her notes, occasionally pausing to inspect a poorly drawn illustration in the margin. Amit meticulously arranges a set of vials and mutters incantations under his breath to ensure the correct mixture. Meanwhile, you furrow your brows over the instructions for billywig sting.

"Did you know that you need more knotgrass than rat spleen in the rat spleen mixture?" Luna hums in an airy voice. "Why don't they just call it knotgrass mixture instead?"

Amit smily nods, not looking up from his work. "You're right, but I'm more concerned with the properties of moonstone in this particular potion. It's a delicate balance."

As the minutes tick away, you feel the weight of pressure weighing down on your shoulders. While Luna's comments are a welcomed distraction and Amit's calm demeanor helps to alleviate the pre-test jitters, you still can't help but stress.

"Ugh," you groan, running a hand through your hair.

"Something wrong?" Amit asks, concern evident in his voice.

"Not really," you answer as you shut your book. "I think I've got to go."

"I hope Nargles don't tamper with your notes," she replies.

"You'll be fine," Amit reassures you, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Let us know how it goes after."

"Yeah, I know," you shake your head as you stand up. "You want to know what the questions are."

"Thanks, Y/N," they both grin up at you as you take your leave.

"Yeah, yeah," you mutter, giving them a wave before disappearing out the door.

The atmosphere in the potions classroom is tense as Professor Sharp prepares to hand out the test papers. The faint aroma of various magical ingredients lingers in the air, you can tell that a lot of the others had been studying just before class, too. You can't help but feel nervous, knowing this test will be an official report of how much you've learned up to this point in the year.

Professor Sharp begins to explain the rules as he passes around the exam papers. "This exam will assess your knowledge of the potions discovered so far in this semester. There will be no talking, no cheating, and certainly no latecomers once all exams are out." His gaze lingers on the door as if anticipating trouble. You look around the room and notice two individuals who still have not shown up.

Just as he finishes speaking, the door swings open, and in walks Garreth and Sebastian, both wearing panicked looks. The professor's eyes narrow, and he scowls at the late arrivals. "Mr. Weasley, Mr. Sallow, you're late. Take your seats immediately."

They walk in, their hushed conversation just hardly audible. You try to listen in but can't quite make out what they're saying.

As they settle into their seats, Garreth turns his attention to you and casts a sly glance, and you can't help but roll your eyes at him. Professor Sharp then continues to admonish the two of them, reminding them of the importance of punctuality.

When Sharp turns his back, Sebastian leans in and whispers something to Garreth. You still can't catch the words, but the look in his eyes hints at some secret they must be sharing.

Once more, Garreth turns his attention back to you, passing a serious look before focusing on his test. You're not sure what their game is, but the looks and secretive glances are getting under your skin.

With one final warning glance from Professor Sharp, the test papers are distributed and the room falls into a focused silence as the class begins to fill the air with the sound of quills scribbling on parchment. The questions are rather challenging, but you answer each one with determination, drawing on all your knowledge of potion-making from the past year. Time seems to pass quickly, and soon enough, the class is called to hand in their completed tests.

As you give Professor Sharp your parchment, a weight is lifted from your shoulders.

"That was difficult," you confess as he accepts it from you.

"Well, we'll see how you fare when I grade them," he says as he shuffles the stack of papers into a neat pile. "You should be proud of yourself. You've come a long way, Ms. Bennett."

"Thanks, professor," you reply, smiling before returning to your desk to gather your things.

As you exit the classroom, the corridor around you is quieter than you'd expect for the time of day. The lack of sound makes your footsteps echo loudly against the stone walls. You decide to make a quick stop in the library to find a book before heading back to the Ravenclaw common room. But just as you're about to walk away, the familiar voices of Garreth and Sebastian call out to you.

"What's going on?" you ask as you look between the two of them. It's hard not to notice the mischievous glint in their eyes. They exchange secretive glances before finally turning their attention back to you.

"It's about the Echoing Elixir," Garreth explains with a sly grin. "Remember? The one that could give you magic. We found out where it is and we thought you might want to join us in going to get it."

Your eyes widen, and the corners of your mouth turn upwards into a smile. "Wait, seriously?"

"Yep," Sebastian nods, his own excitement evident.

Suddenly, the smile drops from your lips. You furrow your brow, curious yet hesitant. The allure of gaining magical abilities is undeniable, yet a sense of contentment with your current life holds you back.

"I... I don't know," you reply, shaking your head. "I'm not sure I want to."

"You can't be serious," Garreth says, looking at you as if you've lost your mind.

"Yeah," Sebastian adds. "Come on, Y/N. Don't you want to know what it's like?"

"It's true," you nod, thinking back to your previous adventures with all of your new friends. "But I'm happy with things the way they are," you respond, your decision firm.

Sebastian chuckles. "Come on, it'll be fun. Imagine the possibilities!"

You shake your head. "I know, but I've got everything I need right now. I don't want to risk it. Thanks, guys, but no thanks."

Garreth and Sebastian exchange a disappointed glance but respect your decision. "Alright, suit yourself," Garreth says, his grin fading slightly. You nod, bidding them farewell as you continue down the corridor.

Back in the Ravenclaw common room, your friends are still huddled together studying for their exam. As you enter the room, their eyes light up with curiosity.

"How'd it go?" Luna inquires, looking up from a complicated-looking potion manual.

You sigh, sinking into a comfortable chair. "It went," you say, your tone unintentionally carrying a hint of mystery. They exchange puzzled glances, trying to decipher the meaning behind your response, but you simply open the cover of the book you retrieved from the library and begin reading.

The room falls silent as you immerse yourself in the pages of your new story. Your friends, unable to stop themselves from being nosy, abandon their studies momentarily to watch you. They exchange perplexed glances, unsure of what exactly transpired between the last time they saw you and now.

Minutes pass and your friends decide to return to their studies, shrugging off your odd behavior and accepting that whatever happened is not something you're willing to talk about just yet. However, the air in the room is still thick with curiosity.
