Which one is weirder? Refusing to hang out with your best friend because he kissed you or, accepting to hang out with your best friend because he kissed you? Jungkook genuinely wanted to dig a hole in the ground, bury himself there, and never get out.

It wasn't him who should have been thinking all that. And he sure as hell was not the only one. At least, he hoped he wasn't.

Not a wink of sleep the other night, just plain rage and weird thoughts, and rage for those weird thoughts.

"Why the hell would he kiss me? That's disgusting. I know we're best friends, and we probably did this other times when we were wasted, but we did so because we knew we wouldn't remember and it won't be weird. Why is it weird this one time?! I should've drank more. No. He should've drank more. Did he even drink anything? He didn't look drunk at all."

In truth, they both should've drank more. That way, no one would remember it, and things wouldn't be this way. This angry rambling of his that no one would understand was making things worse.

Look at them: new year, new day, and they already fucked it up. Either way, he wouldn't let things get awkward. This was just a misunderstanding. He would go there, no one would mention it, they would get wasted, and everything would be fine.

Had Taehyung been gay, Jungkook would have noticed. He knew how those people were. Taehyung would have acted differently. For as long as Jungkook had known him, which was like, forever, he had never seen Taehyung lay his eyes on a guy like he did with girls.

But in the end, why was Jungkook getting so worked up over it? If Taehyung was gay then... it might take some time but he would accept it, he's his best friend. He didn't particularly like queers, but he had always tolerated them- maybe because no one he knew was gay.

So he wasn't going to Taehyung's house. He wasn't knocking on the door. He wasn't waiting in front of the door, hoping Taehyung would not hear it and he could just leave with the excuse that he thought the older had not been home.

Alas, the world hates him. Taehyung did answer the door, and he did so cheerfully too.

"Hey! You scared me. I thought you wouldn't show up." Taehyung regarded him how he normally would, briefly. If he noticed the dark circles under Jungkook's eyes, he did not show it.

Jungkook slowly relaxed. It all felt natural, like their other hang outs. Maybe he was just overthinking like a coward.

"I need a smoke," he said.

They were in the living room. Taehyung stood up to grab an ashtray. When he came back, he also took out his pack of cigarettes and the lighter from his pants pocket.

"You want me to light it up for you?"

Jungkook chuckled while taking a cigarette and the lighter. "Not letting you do that again." He did not notice that the other wasn't laughing.
"This is my first cig this year, can you believe it? I haven't even lasted a day," he continued.

"Addiction is crazy," Taehyung teased.

"Look who's talking!"

"I've decided to quit smoking this year, actually."

Jungkook almost choked on air. "That's bullshit, dude. You still carry the pack and the lighter with you."

"They're not for me- I mean, I guess it's out of habit." the older said quickly. "And my lighters are always cool."

His lighter was always hand painted by Taehyung himself, with anything he wanted at the moment. This time, it was decorated with purple and gold slashes. Taehyung was an artist through and through. He wanted something? He made it happen. Even a kiss...

Shaking his head, Jungkook opened a bottle of beer. They clinked them together and that was only the start for many other bottles.

"You know Tae," he said after finishing the third bottle. "Everything you do just screams 'personality'."

"I heard that from a girl once," the older replied nonchalantly.

Jungkook wasn't happy with that answer.
"It's different when I say it," he whined.

"Mhm," he hummed in agreement. "Now maybe you should put the bottle down, before you do something you might-"

"Hey!" Jungkook raised his voice. "You..." he got on top of him on the couch. "You're so weird."

Taehyung's eyes were wide as onions, but he still grabbed his thighs to stabilize him. "What do you mean?"

"Before anything!" Jungkook raised a finger to point at him. "How much have you drank?"

"I drank the same amount as you. 3 bottles."

"You're not drunk, though."

"I may not want to get drunk tonight. Did you think about that?"

"Then why the hell have you called me over specifically to get drunk?!" Jungkook weakly hit him on the chest.

Taehyung huffed. "I never mentioned getting drunk. I only said I have alcohol. Your tolerance has always been weaker, see?"

"Then drink over your tolerance!"

"Why are you set on getting me drunk in my own house?" Taehyung booped his nose. He was really having fun. "I don't trust myself when I'm drunk anymore."

Jungkook made eye contact with him and it felt like the older was challenging him. Being the only one drunk was never fun. He didn't want to be the only one slurring his words. And he didn't want Taehyung to wake up the next day without a hangover.

So Jungkook got off the older's lap, running off to the kitchen and rummaging through some cabinets. Once he found a bottle he was looking for, he went right back, plopping on Taehyung's lap with the open bottle in his right hand.

"Taste it." Jungkook ordered and Taehyung took a sip from the bottle, eyes on him.
There was an amused glint in his eyes.

"Now," Jungkook started again, "I'm gonna do something that I will 98% regret."

"That's very specific."

"Just know I'm gonna regret this. So take advantage of it while you can. I allow you." Jungkook took a big sip of red wine, set the bottle down, and connected his lips to the other's. Once he opened his mouth, a thin scarlet string of wine escaped their mouths and he could feel it linger from his chin to his throat. He let loose.
