He did not fall asleep on the floor. He found himself on the floor after waking up in his best friend's embrace on the bed. Naturally, he panicked and fell down with a loud thud. That was why Jungkook was on the floor, patting his own head to check for any damage. It didn't help that his head was already aching, and he was sure he could hear the electricity in the walls. He looked at Taehyung, then at the scribbled wall next to him. The date for the New Year was now circled with red lines. It made it stand out more than everything else. Had Taehyung liked the party that much?
When he glanced back down, he wasn't surprised to see his best friend staring back at him. Instead, he grinned at him.
"Morning!" he greeted. "Don't make sudden moves. Your head will kill you." Jungkook was talking from his current experience.
Taehyung groaned and looked at the ceiling. "Come back to bed," he said, the raspy morning voice warming up Jungkook's body.
"Yeah, no. It'll only get worse. Get up, we have to eat," he said, taking Taehyung's arm with the intention to drag him out of bed.
"Eat my ass," Taehyung replied, running his free hand on over his face while wincing because his words sounded too loud, even though they weren't.
"Tempting," Jungkook joked, "but I'll pass. I'll look at whatever you have in the kitchen." He stood up, a slow and painful process, and walked out of the room, going downstairs.
What the hell happened last night? And this was a genuine question. He wasn't sure whether to be happy about it or not. Magbe he did something cool. But again, maybe he embarrassed himself so much he would die if even one percent of it made it back into his memory.
One thing he was sure of was that he had fun. No surprise, since they always had fun when they did stuff like that. Jungkook was asking himself if Taehyung had come onto him like he did on New Year's though, especially since he was drunk. Well, both of them were. That could've made things worse.
As he was warming up water in a kettle to make coffee, he heard Taehyung's steps shuffling down the stairs and into the kitchen. He almost flinched when the older placed a hand on his lower back, standing next to him to check what he was doing.
"Need assistance to walk?" Jungkook asked, not aware of the double meaning at first.
Taehyung chuckled. "That sounds terrible. But I'm good." He stepped away and checked the fridge for food. "You wanna be a housewife and make some eggs for both of us?"
"Fuck off," the younger flipped him off. "You can't even make some eggs?"
"I can!"
"Yeah, I'm sure you can." Jungkook was the only one to witness his first attempt at cooking the simplest thing in the world, years ago when Taehyung had been home alone for the day and didn't want to go to the other's house. That was also the last time Taehyung's family had seen that frying pan. Instead, a small frying pan was added on his wall, as if to commemorate that day.
"Sit down. I'll do it," Jungkook sighed. Seeing as he absolutely couldn't rely on his best friend to cook since that day, he took up cooking. And Taehyung had always praised him for it. As he should. Jungkook would never cook for anyone else. Mostly because everyone else in his life knew how to cook; that's why.
Taehyung opened the medicine drawer, looking through the different kinds of pills. "Need anything for your hangover?"
"Just peace."
"We'll see how that works out, then." Taehyung closed the drawer, not taking anything from it. He went behind the kitchen counter and sat down, as instructed by the younger. But he couldn't hide his headache, so he held his head in his hands.
"What the fuck happened last night?" he asked."To hell if I know," Jungkook replied while cracking some eggs in a pan. In a way, Jungkook felt guilty for not remembering anything. He didn't know why, but at least both of them were in the same situation, it seemed.
However, he didn't see the older sulk behind him. "We really needed a night like that," was all he said.
Perhaps they did. A night doing whatever you wanted and then not remembering anything the next? Sign them up. Especially Jungkook.
"So are your parents coming back tomorrow?" Taehyung asked when Jungkook sat down at the counted with the eggs and coffee.
"Yeah. They said grandma gave them something for me. Probably another pair of wool socks." Jungkook loved his grandmother. She was always thinking about him and crocheting things like socks, sweaters, and gloves.
"I wanna learn to crochet," Taehyung thought out loud. "I would start with something small, like a cap for my finger, then go big with a cover for my dick. Just for fun, yknow?"
"Funny because you'll just have to make another finger-sized cap for that too," Jungkook snickered.
"I'll make that for you," the older bit back.
"I got too much free time anyway.""Maybe spend some of it studying for school." Jungkook said, serious.
They looked at each other in silence, then broke out laughing.
"Good one," Taehyung said. "My parents didn't say when they're getting back exactly. It might be next week. They won't be long anyway, but my dad said he found something that reminded him of me.""Maybe an animal," Jungkook suggested.
"I'm an animal now?" Taehyung raised his eyebrows. "I don't know. I told him to keep it for himself if it reminds him of me, though. You know, when he goes overseas again, to have it with him."
"You could've told him to buy two. One for him and one for you."
"Oh, he bought 3." Taehyung assured his best friend.
"Three?!" Jungkook widened his eyes.
"Probably for me, for him, and for mom," the older shrugged.
Jungkook smiled. They both had loving families, which was like a divine gift in their area. He didn't wish for anything to change. He liked it this way.
Taehyung looked over at him smiling with some egg yolk at the corner of his mouth. Jungkook thought about throwing a tissue at him, but just when he took the tissue and was about to do it, Taehyung gently grabbed his hand and pulled it close, wiping his mouth with the tissue in the younger's hand.
He liked it this way... But did Taehyung have other thoughts?
