Soulmate AU: When they reach a certain age, a tattoo shows up on their bodies showing where they met; however it shows up randomly and the age is different for everyone. Once the soulmates meet and fall in love the tattoo disappears.

Ben woke up and got ready for his first day after the merger. His father called him and gave him a pep talk. Make the most of this situation. For all Ben knew he could meet his soulmate at this hospital. Ben laughed at the thought. He hadn't gotten his soulmate tattoo. Most of his friends got theirs while they were in college, and some got theirs in med school. He figured maybe he just didn't have a soulmate. He liked the idea that maybe he would be a free man. He thought about his past relationships. He probably wasn't soulmate material.
He left his home and stopped to get coffee before heading inside the hospital.

"You'll meet your soulmate in this hospital, huh"  The barista chuckled "I met mine at a Seahawks game. Glad when my Seahawks tattoo went away. I thought it meant I would marry a player. But no just the guy who ordered a pretzel from concessions same time as me"

"What" Ben looked at her. Why was she giving him her life story right now? He just wanted coffee.

"Your wrist" She pointed. His eyes followed her finger and he looked at his right wrist. In thick black ink straight across his wrist, he saw it.
SGMW OR
"Seattle Grace Mercy West operating room. Today might be your day" She smiled

"Could be" He shrugged and paid for his coffee before walking away. He walked into the hospital. He looked around at everyone at the hospital. One of these people was his soulmate. He looked at the women in the waiting room and he looked at the doctors and nurses that passed by him. He was content not having a soulmate then all of a sudden he gets his tattoo. He groaned looking at it. As he went about his day he found that while there were some lovely ladies here none of them had a tattoo that matched his. Was that important? Do you even have to be with your soulmate? The universe decides randomly you'll get a tattoo that matches a person you likely haven't met yet but that's the person you're meant to be with and everyone just goes with it. As a man of logic and sound reasoning, he thought it sounded foolish.

He had heard rumors about people who ignored their tattoos. The tattoo deniers. They do everything to cover their tattoo. He wondered if that would be him or if he would embrace it. What's the harm in at least entertaining the idea that the universe may be on to something with these soulmate tattoos?

As he left the hospital for the day. He called his dad.

"Benji" his dad greeted him

"It happened" Ben wasn't sure if he should be happy or not

"You met her"

"The tattoo appeared. I'll meet her in the operating room at the hospital"

"I told you son" his dad let out a hearty laugh

"I haven't met her yet though"

"Well she's there"

"What if she's a soulmate denier" He sighed
His dad was silent on the phone for a moment before he sighed and began to speak again

"She might be. But I know my son. You'll get her"

"You sound so sure" Ben laughed

"Because I am"

"I'll talk to you tomorrow Dad. I'm home from work"
Ben hung up the phone and walked into his condo. He ate dinner and got ready for bed. As he lay in bed he looked at his tattoo. He assumed it meant a surgeon, not a patient. Although it could be a scrub nurse. Deep down he always knew he was going to end up with someone in the medical field. He drifted off to sleep wondering about his soulmate.
