Despite being deprived of sleep, Loid still wasn't able to. If Fiona was not the mole.... then who was it? Despite being a spy, despite having been instructed to always remain analytical, he was not able to find any further clues. Whoever this traitor was, was very smart. The only choice which was left with him was to continue normal procedures until he finds more clues. Wasting his time on finding this mole would just hinder his normal operations.

————————

"Ohayo Loid-san." , he woke up to Yor's beautiful crimson eyes. "Good morning, Yor.", he replied.

Yor was standing beside the bed with breakfast ready in her hands, thankfully she had learnt how to make eggs, toast and pancakes. "Thank you, Yor." - Loid smiled.

"So, how are you now?", she kept the tray on the bedside table and sat close to him.

He was silent for a moment and kept staring into her eyes, "Well... I don't know how to answer that. The only choice I have is to just continue my normal work until I get any more leads. Going deeper into this matter is pointless.... I would only waste my time and energy."

"That's a good decision, Loid-san. Also... if we're talking about work... I have received my second last assignment from the garden...", she said timidly since she didn't know how he would react.

He was displeased,"But I thought you quit... ah wait you did inform me that you'd have to do 1-2 assignments before you could resign."

"I promise you... nothing would happen to me, nothing has ever happened to me. There's a reason why I am the Thorn Princess.... or should I say was... but regardless of that, I need to fulfil my duties properly before I can finally discharge.", she responded assertively.

This convinced him a little, "I wouldn't have cared if it was like before... but everything has changed now... I have this urge to keep you and Anya protected. Even though I know you're quite strong, there is always a feeling which haunts my brain."

She got up from the bed and kissed him on the head, "I know I'm too precious... so don't worry I won't even shed a hair."

Loid felt a little reassured now but, obviously letting off one's wife go on an assassination mission could never let anyone have peace of mind.

After breakfast and sending off Anya to school, Loid went to the hideout first, before going to the hospital, that was because he had no information reports since 24 hours... which is a big deal for a spy, especially one like him.

"Good day, Handler.", he walked straight into her office.

"Oh Twilight... is everything okay?", she put out her cigar from her mouth.

"Yes... just had a situation with Anya the other day. Apologies for taking a day off. ", he replied.

Handler smiled, "Oh Twilight, stop being so modest. It's alright... anyways nothing much relevant happened in the past 24 hours anyways. Here is the data report."

She took out a yellow folder from her desk drawer and gave it to him.

He opened the folder and started to read its contents carefully. It took him 30 seconds to analyse the given data. "Really? The CCP has introduced a social credits system?"

She took off her glasses, "Oh yes, a fascinating ideology which would unfortunately never be executed properly. But well, let's see what happens. I was myself quite excited when I heard about this. Compelling people to actually contribute something towards their society is a good concept. Let's see how this turns out. There are no side missions for today, WISE has decided to lay low for a while until the Desmond situation gets better. "

He nodded, "Well... I suppose I shall head out to the hospital?"

She nodded back, "Oh yes and fast, if you can. Nightfall has been missing you a lot."

Twilight laughed... at this point he also suspected that there was something for him in Nightfall's mind. And Handler, she was already fully aware of her crush.

—————————

A beautiful maiden, dressed in black was talking to an odd-looking old man in a place which could only be termed as a garden.

"Yes.. so this is your second last mission, Thorn Princess. Wish it wasn't, but your choice is respected. Do not let us down." , he instructed her.

She bowed down and nodded. The mission was quite different than the rest, she had to assassinate a rogue garden member. This was not going to be easy because a garden member is not a regular gunman. They are highly trained assassins, specialising in both melee and ranged combat, however, this specific target was a newbie. Her target as specified by the Gardner, was at that moment at the Berlint Port. The battle was going to be an outdoors one, Yor was certainly going to enjoy this.

————————————

She had arrived at the port after taking a shuttle. It was silent, dead silent. Not even the sounds of patrolling watchmen could be heard. She entered the specific docking area she was supposed to go to as per her instructions. There were few rusty containers kept here and there and just beside the water was a small warehouse. That was likely where her target would be.

She did not enter the warehouse directly, but climbed the adjoining stars to the roof hatch and then entered the warehouse. It was stinky, there was a rotten mixed smell of rust and fish oil everywhere. And there in the middle of the darkness she saw her, another young woman dressed in black, talking on the phone. Yor could not exactly hear what she was trying to say, but she did repeatedly hear the word "transport" and "extraction".

Not wanting to waste anymore time, Yor jumped down from the ceiling.

"Thorn Princess. I knew they would send you here.", the woman scoffed.

Yor speaked to her in her most seductive tone, "Then let's end this... without any effort."

The woman took out her gun and fired many times at Yor, but she was quite fast. She managed to kick out the gun from her hand and pointed her stilettos on her neck, "Any last words?"

"Pff... " the woman spat on the floor "You don't know what's coming... soon he will recover and then... the whole world will die in turmoil. And you... yes you the wonderful Thorn Princess... do you really think they would let you resign peacefully? They already know the whereabouts of you and your family, also including your brother. The Garden is corrupt... it too monetises off of war. No matter how much you deny it"

The woman took out a dagger from her coat's pocket and attempted to take a jab at Yor but Yor had already slit her throat wide open.

Yor was confused... she did not realise what that girl had been blabbering about.

After her mission was completed, she returned back to the garden and informed the Gardener of the result. She did not mention anything the target had said before she was killed.

"Oh and... for your final mission, Thorn Princess. Next Sunday there is going to be a conference. A conference among the defense cabinet of Ostania. The person chairing this conference would be.... DONOVAN DESMOND.........."
